Job description
The Manager in FCC & AML Advisory at Grant Thornton UAE leads high-quality advisory engagements for licensed financial institutions across the UAE regulatory spectrum (CBUAE, DFSA, FSRA, SCA), focusing on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Sanctions, and Countering Proliferation Financing (CPF). Responsibilities include delivering assurance services, conducting independent FCC assessments, and supporting the uplift of AML programs, including FCC risk assessments, policy development, and target operating model design. The role also covers FCC technology support such as transaction monitoring tool validation, vendor selection, and effectiveness testing. The Manager drives project delivery, including planning, execution, client updates, billing, and quality assurance. Additional duties include business development, proposal writing, client presentations, and thought leadership. Candidates should possess deep understanding of FCC programs, UAE and international regulatory standards, and demonstrate strong project and stakeholder management skills. Arabic language and professional certifications like CAMS, ICA, or CFE are advantageous.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and deliver high-quality FCC client engagements including small to mid-sized projects and workstreams on large-scale engagements
- Conduct AML Program Assessments, Internal Audits, gap analyses, AUPs, and participate in Third Party Validation and Monitorships
- Develop and execute FCC risk assessments, Risk Appetite Statements, policies and procedures, Transaction Monitoring Typology Assessments, and Customer Risk Assessment Models
- Support clients in target operating model design and AML vendor systems assessments
- Provide support for regulatory interactions and deliver FCC training to Boards and all three lines of defense
- Manage project planning, execution, progress tracking, client updates, billing, and quality assurance
- Oversee project formalities including conflict checks, client acceptance, and documentation
- Drive business development by preparing proposals, participating in marketing initiatives, and leading thought leadership activities
- Supervise and mentor junior team members to ensure quality and growth
- Build and maintain effective client relationships and ensure clarity in deliverables
Experience & skills
- 7 to 9 years of experience in Financial Crime Advisory (consulting or in financial institutions)
- Strong understanding of FCC Program components and UAE/international AML/CFT regulations
- Proven experience leading AML Advisory projects or key workstreams on large engagements
- Demonstrated project and stakeholder management skills
- Experience in business development, proposal development, and client presentations
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Professional certifications like CAMS, ICA, CFE are advantageous
- Experience in transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems is advantageous
- Knowledge of Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Fraud, and Market Abuse is beneficial
- Arabic language proficiency is advantageous
