Job description
API 6A, API 17D and NACE MR0175 are the standards that shape most decisions this Life of Field Engineer makes on TechnipFMC's surface wellhead equipment in Abu Dhabi. The job covers a product's whole life, from manufacturing and testing to final installation at the end-user location and the after-sales service that follows. Internal and external customers come to you as their technical point of contact on ongoing projects and operations. Quality Notifications (QNs) need accurate disposition, and rework, refurbishment and remanufacture activity follows from those decisions. Procedures and work instructions for mobilisation, demobilisation, maintenance and repair are written by you, while engineering documentation moves through the ECN process. Design work draws on CAD (Unigraphics/NX), Mathcad, TCE and SAP, along with engineering calculations prepared for design reviews. System Integration Testing (SITs), RCAs, HAZOPs and risk assessments are regular parts of the role. Manufacturing issues sometimes need real-time technical support under pressure. This position is open to UAE Nationals with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with 3 years as an engineer working with surface equipment in oil and gas.

Key responsibilities
- Act as the technical point of contact for internal and external customers on ongoing projects and operations
- Disposition Quality Notifications (QNs) accurately, along with rework, refurbishment and remanufacture activity
- Create procedures and work instructions for mobilisation, demobilisation, maintenance, refurbishment and repair
- Review engineering documentation through the ECN process
- Prepare engineering calculations at all levels for design reviews
- Design new or modified mechanical products and layouts using CAD
- Present design concepts, improvement proposals and procedures in technical discussions with clients and suppliers
- Engage clients to understand their needs, manage expectations and produce technical solutions
- Plan and participate in System Integration Testing (SITs)
- Provide real-time technical support in response to manufacturing issues
- Lead design staff on a project basis in analysing design alternatives
- Set deadlines and manage priorities for yourself and others
- Transfer knowledge and best practices to other service hubs and regional engineering groups
- Contribute expertise to local HSEQ activities, RCAs, HAZOPs and risk assessments
- Comply with all TechnipFMC Engineering, Quality, Environment, Health and Safety procedures
Experience & skills
- Be a UAE National
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Bring 3 years of oil and gas engineering experience with surface equipment, such as Design, WH and XT, System, Project, Choke & Valve or Production Systems Engineer roles (preferred)
- Understand drilling operations related to surface wellhead equipment
- Know industry standards and design guidelines including API 6A, API 17D and NACE MR0175
- Apply knowledge of design, manufacturing and refurbishment processes with an eye on cost and profit impact
- Perform high-level engineering calculations to applicable design guidelines
- Use CAD (Unigraphics/NX), Mathcad, TCE and SAP
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis using industry-practised methodology
- Guide and support others within the engineering team
