Job description
Network and service performance across Mobile, Core network and Fixed network domains is the focus here, and the job exists to turn end user requirements into monitoring solutions that show clearly how those networks are behaving. Within the Solutions & Systems Support team, you plan the design architecture for performance and network monitoring, along with the data structure and modelling behind each business use case. Automation is a growing part of the work. Use cases you help prepare feed into Autonomous Operations and Planning functions, while charts, dashboards and KPI reporting track QoS and point to service affecting issues. Vendor equipment passes through analysis and testing under your oversight to check quality, compatibility and reliability. Beyond the technical side, the position supports annual network planning and budgeting, obtains procurement approvals, monitors CWP and project progress, and keeps relationships with suppliers, contractors, vendors and consultants in good order. Subordinates rely on you for guidance and for spotting where their skills need development. Strong grounding in Unix, Linux, mobile network planning, mobile core network operations and telecom network interfaces, protocols and architecture across 5G, 4G, 3G and 2G is expected. GSMA standards, mobile service testing and Roaming services IREG testing matter too, as do continuous integration/deployment, E2E functional design, rating & mediation systems and payment systems & platforms.

Key responsibilities
- Plan and oversee technical requirements from end users for network and services performance analysis
- Prepare automation use cases that support Autonomous Operations and Planning functions
- Deploy charts and dashboards to evaluate network and service performance and report QoS measures
- Design the architecture for performance and network monitoring solutions
- Model the data structures required to build business use cases
- Compile reports for Mobile, Core network, Fixed network and related services and identify improvements to existing reports
- Define network and performance KPIs and carry out detailed analysis for end users
- Develop processes for fault analysis and alarm generation
- Oversee analysis and testing of equipment from various vendors for quality, compatibility and reliability
- Manage end user requirements for network and service monitoring and related reports
- Propose new tools and solutions to evaluate network and services performance
- Support the SD/D in the annual network planning and budgeting process
- Establish policies, procedures, guidelines and standards for network and service quality across the Engineering Department
- Maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors, vendors and consultants
- Track best practice processes, governance frameworks, ISO standard requirements and developments in network and service quality
- Identify training needs of subordinates and provide professional guidance
- Obtain approvals for procurement of equipment
- Present technical and operational reports to superiors
- Monitor CWP and project progress and resolve bottlenecks
Experience & skills
- Bring hands-on experience with Unix and Linux
- Demonstrate expertise in mobile network planning and mobile core network operations
- Understand telecom network interfaces, protocols and architecture across 5G, 4G, 3G and 2G
- Apply GSMA standards in network and service work
- Perform mobile service testing and Roaming services IREG testing
- Show a track record in project planning and execution
- Possess knowledge of continuous integration/deployment and E2E functional design
- Have familiarity with rating & mediation systems, payment systems & platforms and regulatory compliance
