Job description
The Senior AP Accountant at OMNIYAT (Business Unit: Omniyat; Job Function: Finance & Accounting; Contract Type: Full Time; Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Closing Date: 19-Nov-2025) is responsible for managing the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices, strong vendor and service provider relationships, and full compliance with internal controls, financial policies, contractual agreements, and UAE regulatory requirements. The role analyzes and reviews all accounts payable transactions for accuracy and policy alignment; develops and maintains an efficient accounts payable workflow; facilitates timely invoice approvals; provides regular accounts payable status reports to senior management highlighting KPIs, outstanding balances, and cash flow impact; conducts monthly reconciliations to ensure alignment with the general ledger; optimizes the AP function through process improvements and technology enhancements; evaluates vendor payment terms and early payment discounts; coordinates with finance on cash management and funding for scheduled payments; monitors outstanding payables and resolves overdue invoices; maintains robust documentation and internal control systems; and supports internal and external audits with well-documented AP transactions. The position requires proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls, and the ability to recommend policy and procedure changes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and security within the AP process, ideally within the real estate development industry.

Key responsibilities
- Analyze and review all accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with OMNIYAT’s internal policies and procedures
- Coordinate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies in billing, invoicing, or payments promptly
- Develop and maintain an efficient accounts payable workflow to ensure timely and accurate processing of all incoming invoices
- Evaluate and ensure that payments are processed in compliance with contractual agreements, internal policy, and UAE regulatory requirements
- Provide regular reports on accounts payable status to senior management, highlighting KPIs, outstanding balances, and cash flow impact
- Facilitate timely approval of invoices by working with department heads and management to ensure all documentation is accurate and complete
- Optimize the accounts payable process by identifying and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce processing times
- Liaise with external vendors, service providers, and suppliers to ensure smooth and accurate processing of invoices and payments
- Recommend process improvements and technology enhancements to streamline the accounts payable function and improve operational efficiency
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy and alignment with the general ledger
- Evaluate vendor payment terms and assess opportunities for cost savings or improved payment arrangements
- Coordinate with the finance team to ensure proper cash management and adequate funding is available for all scheduled payments
- Monitor outstanding payables and follow up with departments or vendors for timely resolution of overdue invoices
- Analyze payment terms, early payment discounts, and other financial metrics to optimize the company’s financial position
- Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring all accounts payable transactions are well-documented and compliant with relevant standards
- Develop and maintain a strong system of internal controls for managing the accounts payable process and safeguarding company assets
- Recommend changes to policies and procedures to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and security of the accounts payable process
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Bring 7–10 years of experience as an AP Accountant, preferably in the real estate development industry
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Show proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Exhibit excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Present experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) as a plus
- Hold a certification in accounting (e.g., ACCA, CPA) as a plus
