Job description
A hybrid infrastructure spanning Microsoft Azure, AWS, and on-premise systems needs a technical lead who can keep it scalable, reliable, secure, cost-efficient, and resilient, and that is the mandate behind this role at a utility-scale organisation in Abu Dhabi. Working closely with senior IT and infrastructure leadership, you will play a key role in delivering the hybrid-cloud strategy across Azure and AWS while keeping application performance steady across legacy and cloud-native environments alike. Azure cloud management sits at the core of the work, covering Virtual Machines, Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Active Directory / Entra ID, Azure Monitor, ExpressRoute, and Azure DevOps, alongside migration strategies executed through Azure Migrate. Cost optimisation runs through right-sizing, reserved instances, savings plans, auto-scaling, and resource tagging, paired with governance covering provisioning, monitoring, capacity management, and decommissioning. On-premise and hybrid infrastructure, from servers and storage through virtualisation, networks, and data-centre environments, falls under the same leadership, with proactive monitoring built through Azure Monitor and third-party platforms. Security work spans identity and access controls, encryption, network security, and cloud governance frameworks such as AWS Control Tower, Azure Policy, IAM, and Network Security Groups, done in partnership with cybersecurity teams to meet regulatory requirements. Infrastructure-as-Code and automation through Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Azure ARM/Bicep drive much of the modernisation effort, and AI/ML capabilities get applied where they can improve monitoring, anomaly detection, and operational efficiency. Leading and developing the cloud and infrastructure team rounds out the position, alongside managing vendor relationships and reporting on infrastructure performance to senior management.
