Job description
The Manager – Spacecraft Analysis role at Space42 is the technical leadership position responsible for the overall health, safety, and performance of the company’s spacecraft fleet, with a primary focus on payload systems and continuous 24x7 operations assurance. The role encompasses satellite platform health data analysis, payload equipment performance evaluation, and link budget performance calculation to ensure efficient and safe in-orbit operations. The position leads anomaly investigation and resolution through convening and chairing the Anomaly Review Board, conducting root cause analysis for payload failures or degraded performance, and ensuring timely execution of contingency operations. The role also covers procurement and project management of new operational products, onboarding of new satellites into the Spacecraft Operations Center, management of OPEX and CAPEX spend, oversight of support contracts, KPI adherence, performance reporting, and contribution to fleet operations automation initiatives. For new spacecraft projects, the role ensures the definition and execution of comprehensive operations system test plans aligned with customer requirements and supplier testing across the full spacecraft operations environment.

Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and accountability for the health, safety, and performance of the spacecraft fleet with payload focus
- Ensure efficient and continuous 24x7 spacecraft fleet operations and provide on-call management authority
- Analyze satellite platform health data and payload performance including link budget calculations
- Convene and chair the Anomaly Review Board from anomaly detection through closeout
- Investigate payload unit failures or degraded payload performance to identify potential root causes using available operational data
- Ensure all contingency spacecraft operations are executed safely and within required timelines
- Maximize safety and health of the in-orbit spacecraft fleet
- Lead procurement and project management of new operational products and new satellite operations onboarding
- Manage OPEX and CAPEX expenditures related to spacecraft operations
- Ensure team adherence to monthly and annual KPIs and operational objectives
- Deliver timely management and performance reporting including routine and on-demand health, fleet status, and anomaly reports
- Manage and oversee support contracts for the in-orbit spacecraft fleet
- Support and contribute to fleet operations automation initiatives across the organization
- Ensure operations system test plans are defined and executed for new projects through supplier and in-house testing aligned with customer requirements
Experience & skills
- Hold an Engineering Degree
- Possess a minimum of 10+ years of demonstrated experience in spacecraft operations roles
- Demonstrate expert-level proficiency in satellite and ground operations including anomaly management and system troubleshooting
- Exhibit strong knowledge and hands-on experience with payload units and link budget calculations
- Show experience supporting procurement or onboarding of spacecraft into a Spacecraft Operations Center
- Demonstrate capability in system-level failure investigation involving multi-disciplinary teams
- Maintain proficiency in technical reporting, SLA compliance, project management, and operational data analysis for anomaly resolution
