Job description
The Relationship Manager – Liabilities role at First Abu Dhabi Bank is a full-time, on-site position based in Abu Dhabi within the Commercial Banking subdivision under the Personal, Wealth & Business Banking division. The role is responsible for acquiring new-to-bank high-value clients and deepening existing high-value relationships to grow the bank’s liability book and revenue. The position focuses on strong client engagement to understand banking requirements, increase wallet share, cross-sell and upsell banking products and services, and expand market share within assigned segments. The role includes structuring and pricing Global Markets and Cash products, coordinating with product managers and specialists, sourcing new business opportunities, and maintaining high customer service standards. In addition, the role carries significant responsibility for risk management, including KYC updates, credit application preparation, financial analysis, compliance with bank policies and regulatory frameworks, monitoring early warning signals, managing portfolio risk, and supporting audit and risk management activities. The role also emphasizes profitability optimization, expense control, and adherence to operational and compliance standards to mitigate fraud and operational risk.

Key responsibilities
- Acquire new-to-bank high-value clients and deepen existing client relationships to grow the bank’s liability book and revenues
- Engage proactively with clients to understand banking needs and increase wallet share
- Cross-sell and upsell banking products and services to maximize revenue and market share
- Negotiate internally and structure pricing for Global Markets and Cash products based on customer requirements
- Source new business opportunities, follow up on sales leads, and plan regular client visits
- Coordinate with product managers and specialists to promote banking products and services
- Maintain strong customer relationships by providing timely and accurate product information and updates
- Ensure timely updating of KYC documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Prepare credit applications, analyze financial statements, and submit proposals in line with bank policies
- Assess creditworthiness, recommend appropriate credit limits, and monitor portfolio risk
- Identify early warning signals of unsatisfactory account conduct and pursue collection of past-due facilities
- Ensure timely renewal of accounts and proactive management of assigned portfolio risk
- Comply with internal bank policies, Business Banking standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Cooperate with internal audit and risk management teams and respond to audit findings within deadlines
- Monitor money laundering activities and coordinate remedial actions with management
- Optimize utilization of approved limits to maximize profitability
- Monitor MIS reports for FX and trade revenues using EDW dashboards
- Maintain high-quality customer service standards and ensure service level adherence
- Coordinate with operations and processing units to ensure efficient service delivery
- Adhere strictly to bank policies to mitigate fraud and operational risks
Experience & skills
- Hold a university degree as a minimum qualification
- Demonstrate proven success in driving customer and financial objectives within a high-performance banking environment
