Job description
The Manager – Merchandise Planning at Home Centre, Dubai, leads the Planning team across Kids, Household, and Furniture categories. This role is responsible for ensuring the right products are available at the right locations and quantities, aligning with strategic business goals. The manager works closely with buying, supply chain, marketing, and VM teams to optimize assortment, inventory, and operational processes. The position oversees seasonal planning, in-season management, store and competitor analysis, budget adherence, and team development to drive business growth and enhance the customer experience.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Planning team and ensure effective merchandise allocation
- Develop and implement strategic planning guidelines in alignment with business objectives
- Work closely with buying, supply chain, marketing, and VM teams to optimize processes and efficiency
- Prepare post-seasonal performance analysis and propose strategies for sales, pricing, assortment, and suppliers
- Manage seasonal budgets and ensure financial targets such as sales, margin, and stock turns are achieved
- Monitor in-season sales, stock levels, forward covers, and inflows, proposing corrective actions as needed
- Conduct store and competitor visits to identify trends, evaluate assortment, and report findings
- Ensure effective use of planning systems and maintain data integrity
- Recruit, train, and develop Planning team members, conducting performance appraisals and motivating the team
- Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure smooth implementation of merchandising strategies and calendar deadlines
Experience & skills
- Graduate or Postgraduate degree in relevant field
- 6-8 years of experience in retail, with at least 5 years in merchandise planning
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, forecasting, and Open-to-Buy processes
- Experience in retail analytics and sales performance monitoring
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with buying, supply chain, and marketing teams
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with retail systems and reporting tools
- Customer-focused with ability to optimize merchandise availability and assortment
