Job description
The role manages the complete design and development process of private projects from pre-concept to full documentation and coordination within Al-Futtaim Private Company LLC. It includes selecting, guiding and managing design consultants to maintain design intent from construction through handover. It ensures adherence to budget constraints, on-time project completion, and contributes to development of design management procedures. It requires collaboration with other departments and engagement with clients and senior leadership. Responsibilities include assessing briefs, defining consultant qualification criteria, reviewing consultant candidates, making recommendations for designer selection, defining client requirements and creating reverse briefs, creating mood boards, specifying design scope and deliverables, managing design consultants to produce high-quality designs, preparing or developing design options, reviewing drawings, models, images and documents at all project stages, and ensuring compliance with high-end luxury and design standards. It monitors project budgets, ensures viability limits are maintained, tracks progress for timely completion and keeps stakeholders informed. It identifies potential design changes, analyzes implications and seeks approvals for cost and time impacts. It participates in staff recruitment, assigns tasks based on skills, guides and mentors associates and juniors, and reviews design management procedures for relevance, usability and clarity. It requires 15+ years of experience with developers or architectural firms across luxury hospitality and VVIP private projects, ability to manage full design processes including consultants, proficiency in reviewing design packages and identifying implications of changes, a degree in Architecture or related discipline, and familiarity with design standards, codes and practices. It requires capability to manage multiple projects under pressure with effective interpersonal skills.

- Manage design consultants to ensure high-quality design outputs that meet client approval
- Prepare or develop design options for guidance or discussion
- Review and comment on drawings, models, images and design documents at any project stage
- Ensure compliance with high-end luxury and design standards
- Execute projects within budget and maintain costs within viability limits
- Monitor project progress to ensure timely completion and update stakeholders
- Identify potential design changes in advance and analyze their implications
- Seek approval for cost and time implications associated with design changes
- Participate in recruitment and interviews for staff
- Assign tasks according to skills, experience and workload
- Guide and mentor associates and junior team members
- Review and comment on design management procedures for relevance, usability and clarity
- Provide feedback on procedures currently in use
Experience & skills
- Hold a degree in Architecture or a related discipline
- Possess a minimum of 15+ years of experience in design management with developers or architectural firms
- Demonstrate a proven track record across luxury hospitality and VVIP private projects
- Manage full design processes from pre-concept through full documentation and coordination
- Drive and manage design consultants across all project stages
- Show proficiency in reviewing design packages and identifying implications of changes
