Job description
The Biomedical Engineer at Abu Dhabi BioBank, part of M42's Integrated Health Solutions platform, is responsible for ensuring the operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance of all medical and biomedical equipment. This role involves the procurement, installation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, and repair of medical devices, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring equipment performance adheres to international and UAE standards. The Biomedical Engineer plays a critical role in advancing healthcare innovation by enabling precision medicine, genomics research, and high-quality patient care, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including DHA, DOH, MOH, CAP, ISO 15189:2022, EIAC, and JCI compliance
- Assist in the procurement, inspection, tagging, and documentation of biomedical equipment, ensuring accurate recording in asset management systems
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and performance testing of medical equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment faults using technical schematics, diagnostic tools, and manufacturer documentation, including component replacement
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, maintenance history, and updates in the asset management system
- Inspect and validate maintenance, calibration, and repair activities to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
- Provide training and guidance to clinical teams on the safe and effective use of medical devices
- Promote patient-centered service and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations and adherence to regulatory requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and effective risk management while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in biomedical engineering or healthcare technology management
- Strong knowledge of biomedical engineering principles, medical equipment, systems, and tools
- Awareness of current industry technologies, trends, and best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and clinical staff
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
