Job description
The Risk Modelling & Methodology Head is responsible for leading the design, development, and governance of risk methodologies for a Central Counterparty (CCP) or similar financial institution. This role oversees risk model design for margining, stress testing, liquidity, credit scoring, and pricing while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position requires managing interactions with regulators, leading software development, supervising model validation and external reviews, and reporting risk issues to the Risk Management Committee and the Board. The role also involves leading departmental projects, managing budgets, motivating teams, and ensuring alignment with organizational policies and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities
- Ensure completion of operations assigned for the department to comply with CCP standards in a timely manner
- Design risk frameworks for cleared products, structure, and methodology improvements aligned with CCP policies
- Manage development of rules, procedures, risk policies, appetite statements, and methodologies (margin, stress test, liquidity, credit scoring, pricing)
- Lead risk software development
- Attend Risk Management Committee and Board meetings, present risk issues, and implement decisions
- Coordinate with regulators on risk models, compliance, and external reviews of risk management processes
- Oversee model review and validation with external vendors and present findings to the Risk Committee and Board
- Identify process improvements to achieve performance targets
- Ensure robustness of default management processes
- Participate in industry dialogue and discussions
- Direct departmental projects to ensure completion within guidelines and quality standards
- Ensure effective use of departmental budget and report progress and challenges
- Motivate, train, and manage departmental staff to meet required standards
- Set performance objectives, evaluate team performance, and provide feedback
- Ensure confidentiality of information and compliance with risk and security procedures
- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and processes to fulfill work requirements
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and achieve operational excellence
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Financial Engineering, or quantitative financial field
- FRM or PRM certification and/or postgraduate degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience in management or quantitative risk functions in CCPs, CSDs, Exchanges, banks, or financial institutions
- Familiarity with risk management concepts including VaR, CVaR, PV01, stress testing, backtesting; SPAN knowledge is an advantage
- Hands-on experience in quantitative modeling
- Knowledge of cash equities, fixed income, repo, securities borrowing and lending, and exchange-traded derivatives
- Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English
- Proven leadership and structured working attitude
