Job description
Executes Business Finance Polymers at RPI under the Manager Business Finance Polymers, partnering with the leadership of the RPI business segment to provide real-time Business Finance support and advisory that influences decisions to drive sustainable business performance across the Polymers business within Commercial & Downstream - RPI and Finance - FP&A & Business Finance - Business Finance Polymers. Analyses and explains gross margin performance against business plan and rolling plan; provides Commercial insights to business and finance leaders to maximize value for the asset; partners with the Manager Business Finance Commercial on decisions to raise and manage RPI gross margin; develops complex analyses to support long term planning and business decision making; analyses actual costs versus budgets and forecasts to understand operational impacts; continuously identifies and recommends improvements while ensuring compliance with group guidelines, international and local standards, HSE standards, Omaniās government & other legal justifications, and best international practices. Works with controllership to ensure accurate bookkeeping and recording for RPI; routinely collaborates with Asset Production Management, Assurance, Tax, Business Improvement, Corporate & SBU, and RPI Finance; consults with Finance and SBU & Corporate teams for seamless service delivery; engages external stakeholders including staffing specialized contractors, vendors & suppliers, and internal and external auditors. Executes collection, validation, tracking, and review of financial information and key performance indicators (KPI); prepares summary and detailed reports, analyses, reconciliations, short and long-term forecasts and projections; compiles and delivers concise, structured presentations of finance and strategy findings, forecasts, and analysis projects; prepares forecasts and reporting of KPIs; maintains appropriate documentation for transactions, reports, and analysis; focuses on benchmarking and āgap to closeā to reach top quartile industry performance and develop a roadmap to achieve it. Operates in an office environment with intensive computer screen use, conducts sporadic visits to operation sites, and undertakes international traveling when possible and needed. Utilizes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, dashboards, and presentations to senior management, and adheres to international standards and group policies.

Key responsibilities
- Analyze and explain the gross margin performance of the Polymers business versus business plan and rolling forecasts.
- Provide commercial insights and financial advisory to business and finance leaders to identify opportunities for value maximization.
- Partner with the Manager of Business Finance Commercial to support and influence decisions related to gross margin improvement and revenue growth.
- Support decision-making through financial analysis, forecasting, and interpretation of business performance metrics.
- Conduct variance analyses to assess deviations from budgeted costs and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Develop complex financial models and long-term analyses to support strategic business planning.
- Collaborate with operational and business unit managers to review performance reports, KPIs, and financial data.
- Prepare and present concise financial reports, summaries, and dashboards for senior management review.
- Coordinate with controllership teams to ensure accurate bookkeeping, journal postings, and reporting in SAP.
- Execute the collection, validation, and tracking of financial information to support business performance reviews.
- Prepare forecasts, performance projections, and business planning materials aligned with company strategy.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations while identifying process improvement opportunities.
- Benchmark financial performance against industry peers and develop a roadmap to achieve top-quartile results.
- Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, vendors, and contractors to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial processes.
- Support business finance leadership in cost reduction, revenue generation, and operational efficiency initiatives.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Finance, Economics, Management, or Engineering; Masterās degree or professional qualification preferred (e.g., CPA, CMA, ACCA).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in business finance, financial planning, or management reporting within the oil and gas or energy sectors.
- Strong financial analytical and modelling skills with proven experience in gross margin analysis and forecasting.
- Experience in commercial finance and performance management within refinery or petrochemical operations is advantageous.
- Proficiency in SAP and advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications.
- Experience preparing performance dashboards, financial reports, and management presentations.
- Knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and performance benchmarking frameworks.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional environment.
- Strong ethical standards, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Fluency in English (Arabic desirable).
- Willingness to travel occasionally to operational sites (Suhar or other locations).
