Job description
The Senior Architect role at RMJM’s Dubai Design Studio is a senior-level position responsible for leading architectural projects from concept through completion while ensuring design excellence. The position entails developing and applying a thorough design philosophy, coordinating and guiding an assigned team of architects, and managing multi-disciplinary project documentation with full accuracy and correctness. The role requires interfacing with statutory authorities, responding to review comments, tender queries, and contractor questions, as well as preparing and compiling design presentations and reports. The Senior Architect plays a central role in client management, maintaining and growing client relationships, identifying opportunities, and ensuring projects are delivered within the set time, budget, and design objectives. The position requires simultaneous coordination of multiple tasks and projects, substantial input on projects from inception to completion, mentoring junior designers, and managing commercial and financial responsibilities for projects. The candidate will also remain up-to-date with global design trends, provide creative and innovative solutions, and translate design visions effectively to clients and colleagues through detailed drawings and specifications.

Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead the assigned team of architects on a day-to-day basis, ensuring design excellence and consistent quality in all project deliverables.
- Develop and apply a thorough design philosophy, contributing meaningfully to project inception, conceptual development, and detailed design stages.
- Lead design work to meet project objectives, ensuring instructions are implemented effectively and delivery is achieved within the set schedule and budget constraints.
- Ensure correctness, accuracy, and comprehensive multi-disciplinary coordination of all design documentation prepared by the team, maintaining compliance with standards and specifications.
- Coordinate and develop responses to statutory authority review comments, tender queries, and contractor inquiries to ensure timely project progress and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and compile design presentations, reports, and visualizations to communicate design intent clearly to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Maintain full knowledge of statutory authorities’ requirements, local codes, regulations, and submission processes to ensure compliance throughout project lifecycle.
- Lead client interactions, maintain and grow relationships, and identify future opportunities while ensuring the successful delivery of projects from concept through completion.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution, providing the necessary academic foundation for professional practice.
- Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience, including at least 5 years of professional experience within the UAE architecture industry.
- Proven creative and enthusiastic leadership abilities, capable of mentoring junior designers and managing architectural teams effectively.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design flair, creativity, and presentation skills, showcasing expertise in architectural design projects.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current design trends, standards, and emerging technologies relevant to architecture and urban design.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex design concepts into drawings, specifications, and presentations for clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in architectural and design software including Revit, SketchUp, 3D Max, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lumion, and other relevant tools to support project design and visualization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, ensure compliance with codes and regulations, and handle project commercial and financial responsibilities effectively.
