Job description
This role supports Space42’s ground station operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing RF, SATCOM, baseband, IF, antenna, and ground support equipment for Space42 Gateways and UBS sites. Responsibilities include ensuring 24/7 operational availability of RF systems, overseeing construction, installation, and testing of new or upgraded equipment, and executing preventive and corrective maintenance across power systems, UPS, cooling and air conditioning units, and all ground support infrastructure. The role requires hands-on troubleshooting with test and measurement tools such as Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Power Meters, multimeters, inclinometer and compass, as well as adhering to working-at-height and PPE safety protocols. The engineer coordinates with NOCs, service providers, vendors, and contractors, participates in root cause analysis, manages obsolescence (EOS/EOSL/EOL) solutions, and supports gateways including Commercial C, KU, T4, SAR, and PGW. Responsibilities also include contract renewal support, procurement negotiation, maintaining operational continuity, minimizing CAPEX/OPEX, supporting junior engineers, and providing 24/7 onsite or remote support to ensure operational efficiency aligned with Space42’s AI-powered satellite communications and geospatial systems.

Key responsibilities
- Provide technical support to all Space42 gateways and UBS for maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintain RF systems to ensure operational efficiency and 24/7 system availability
- Coordinate and execute system operations, ensuring integrity and reliability
- Participate in construction, installation, and testing of new equipment or modifications
- Perform emergency and corrective maintenance across all relevant systems
- Conduct periodic preventive maintenance activities for Space42 gateways
- Support root cause analysis and closure with all stakeholders
- Manage obsolescence and propose alternatives for EOS, EOSL, and EOL RF parts
- Support Commercial C, KU, T4, SAR, and PGW gateway operations
- Assist with contract renewals, negotiations, procurement processes, and SLA management
- Propose ideas to improve RF team performance and reduce CAPEX/OPEX
- Provide training and development support for junior team members
- Deliver 24/7 operational support onsite or remotely as required
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of ground station systems
- Ensure maintenance of power systems, UPS, cooling, and air conditioning equipment
- Coordinate with NOCs, service providers, and contractors for maintenance scheduling
- Handle procurement tasks including sourcing, negotiation, and technical compliance
- Use test and measurement tools for diagnostics and performance validation
- Ensure compliance with PPE, working-at-height, and man-lift safety requirements
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in RF, Broadcast, or SATCOM operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Minimum 2 years of project-based work experience
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Hands-on experience with RF, baseband, IF, antennas, and ground support equipment
- Proficiency with preventive and corrective maintenance processes
- Ability to maintain ground power systems, UPS, HVAC, and associated equipment
- Proficiency with test equipment including Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Power Meter, multimeter, inclinometer, and compass
- Computer proficiency including modern operating systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work at height and operate man-lift equipment following safety protocols
- Mechanical aptitude for repairing and maintaining equipment and machinery
