The Principal Piping Design Engineer role is a senior engineering position within the oil and gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore, and infrastructure industries based in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The role requires extensive experience in the design of process and utilities piping systems for critical plant equipment and large-scale industrial facilities. The Principal Piping Engineer is responsible for leading the piping engineering discipline across conceptual design, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), and detailed engineering phases of medium to large-scale projects. The position involves leading a team of approximately 10 to 20 piping engineers and designers, providing technical leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure design integrity, quality, and compliance with project requirements. The role includes developing discipline work plans, estimating work hours, and ensuring on-schedule and within-budget delivery of piping engineering deliverables. The engineer participates in technical reviews of plot plans and equipment layouts and leads technical presentations to clients and client representatives. The role requires strong interaction with project management teams, client stakeholders, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. The Principal Piping Engineer ensures adherence to design practices, construction methodologies, and industry codes and standards including ASME, NFPA, and API. The position requires deep expertise in piping layout, stress analysis, material selection, firewater protection systems, drain system philosophy, and overall plant design integration. Knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards and procedures is considered an advantage. The role requires strong English communication skills for technical documentation, reporting, and client-facing presentations.
