Job description
The Credit Controller will manage receivables for assigned clients, including Egypt office clients, and oversee all aspects of credit management within a regional law firm context at Al Tamimi & Company. Reporting line: Credit Manager based in UAE. The mandate spans vendor registration, updating billing instructions, follow up on debt collection, reconciliations, financial reporting, end of year external audit preparation, and ensuring timely payments, while collaborating closely with lawyers, secretaries, compliance, and the finance team to minimize outstanding receivables and mitigate credit risk. Core systems and artifacts include the ERP system (Elite), credit limits, engagement letters, and company policies. The role requires preparing and maintaining accurate reports on accounts receivable, overdue debts, credit risk, and ad hoc requests, negotiating payment plans and settlements with clients when necessary, supporting fee earners and secretaries in collecting fees, drafting vendor registration forms and audit letters, and assisting with cross-department projects. Relationships include Fee Earners, Secretaries, Compliance, Finance, and Clients. Key responsibilities
- Manage receivables for assigned clients, including Egypt office clients, covering credit management, vendor registration, updating billing instructions, debt collection, reconciliations, financial reporting, end of year external audit preparation, and ensuring timely payments
- Monitor and assess clients’ current standing and ensure credit limits and engagement letters are updated in the ERP system (Elite) in compliance with company policies
- Proactively manage collections, follow up on overdue payments, and escalate matters when necessary
- Resolve client queries promptly and maintain strong relationships to facilitate smooth credit management
- Support fee earners and secretaries in collecting fees from clients
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports on accounts receivable, overdue debts, credit risk, and ad hoc requests
- Negotiate payment plans and settlements with clients when necessary
- Assist with cross-department projects and prepare audit letters
- Draft vendor registration forms and contribute to the wider team efforts as required
Experience & skills
- Bring 4+ years of experience in Accounts Receivables or Credit Control in a fast-paced environment handling large volumes
- Demonstrate advanced Excel skills
- Communicate fluently in English
- Apply strong problem-solving abilities
- Work effectively under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
- Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Exhibit a solid understanding of financial concepts
