Job description
Dubizzle Group (Bayut & dubizzle) is hiring a DevOps Engineer to join its high-performing technology team in Dubai. The role involves building, scaling, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers one of the UAEās most visited digital platforms. The DevOps Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring system reliability, automating deployment processes, and enhancing the performance and scalability of applications across production environments. This position demands an operations-focused technologist with deep hands-on experience in AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD automation, and cloud-native systems. The engineer will work closely with development squads to integrate DevOps best practices, streamline delivery pipelines, and ensure 24/7 reliability across large-scale customer-facing systems.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the overall health, performance, and capacity of production systems and infrastructure.
- Design and implement automation strategies to support scalable and maintainable systems.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and Github Actions to streamline deployments.
- Collaborate with software development teams to resolve operational challenges and improve deployment reliability.
- Develop custom tools and utilities for application monitoring, scaling, and fault recovery.
- Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications at production scale.
- Perform application and infrastructure migrations from legacy environments to AWS (particularly EKS).
- Troubleshoot complex issues across hardware, software, networking, and application layers.
- Implement and manage service mesh tools (e.g., Istio) to enhance communication and observability across microservices.
- Ensure security, compliance, and best practices across infrastructure environments.
- Contribute to system documentation, process definition, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support 24x7 operational stability and response.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
- Minimum of 4 yearsā experience supporting large-scale, customer-facing infrastructure in production.
- AWS Solutions Architect certification required.
- Proven experience managing Kubernetes environments at scale (3+ years).
- Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipeline management, infrastructure automation, and configuration management.
- Strong programming and scripting abilities in Python, Go, Ruby, and Bash.
- Experience migrating applications from traditional stacks to cloud-native platforms like AWS EKS.
- Familiarity with Istio or similar service mesh tools within Kubernetes environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems and deliver rapid, reliable solutions.
- Strong understanding of networking, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Comfortable in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
