Job description
RMJM is seeking to appoint a Resident Engineer for a Waterfront Project to support the continued growth of their Abu Dhabi Studio. The role involves leading daily on-site construction supervision, enforcing compliance with design and safety standards, conducting QA/QC inspections, and ensuring timely delivery of a complex and high-profile waterfront development.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Lead and direct site teams, including contractors, subcontractors, and laborers, to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Review design drawings and IFC documents, identifying discrepancies or potential issues early.
- Monitor progress against schedules, reporting delays or risks to project management with mitigation plans.
- Conduct inspections, snagging, and QA/QC checks, ensuring work aligns with approved materials and methodologies.
- Chair site coordination meetings, resolving technical clashes and ensuring stakeholder alignment.
- Enforce HSE regulations and uphold RMJMās standards for excellence.
- Deliver the iconic waterfront project on time, within budget, and to RMJMās exacting quality standards.
- Enforce 100% compliance with design specs, Abu Dhabi codes, and international best practices.
- Resolve conflicts, preempt issues, and keep construction on critical path.
- Bridge all stakeholders; align contractors, clients, and designers to avoid delays.
- Propose value engineering solutions that save costs without compromising quality.
- Ensure flawless handover with complete documentation for operational success.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās/Masterās in Civil/Structural Engineering (Chartered status preferred).
- 15+ years in resident engineering, including 5+ years in the UAE/GCC on infrastructure/waterfront projects (marinas, piers, utilities).
- Mastery of construction sequencing and ability to optimize workflows under high pressure.
- Keen eye for spotting design flaws, constructability issues, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Navisworks, Primavera P6, and BIM tools.
- Fluency in English (Arabic advantageous).
- Strong leadership presence and ability to manage cross-disciplinary teams on-site.
- Availability to work full-time, Monday to Saturday on-site in Abu Dhabi.
