Job description
The Lead Administrator L1 at Wipro Limited is responsible for providing advanced technical expertise in architecture planning and system design across multiple technology towers including platform, database, middleware, and backup environments. The role focuses on leading structural and architectural design to ensure scalable and extensible solutions aligned with system requirements while managing day-to-day operations of the assigned tower. Responsibilities include architecture planning, migration, installation, configuration management, and capacity planning based on current and future requirements. The role requires leveraging underlying technologies to optimize database administration, application platforms, and middleware performance, ensuring smooth system functionality. The administrator is accountable for implementing disaster recovery planning, backup and recovery strategies, and managing upgrades, maintenance, and migrations. The position involves troubleshooting operational issues, conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implementing fixes to prevent recurrence. Performance monitoring, performance tuning, and efficiency improvements are critical, along with reducing performance challenges. The role includes development and maintenance of SOP documentation, data architecture guidance, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, and test plans. The administrator must provide regular reporting on database and system activities, including progress, status, and future actions. Additionally, the role leverages automation and Service Improvement Plan (SIP) initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. The position includes SLA management, knowledge management, customer satisfaction (CSAT), and risk identification and mitigation. Team management responsibilities include workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, training, talent development, performance management, and employee engagement, ensuring alignment with organizational programs and standards. The role also supports delivery of new projects with focus on timely execution, avoiding unauthorized changes, and minimizing escalations within a dynamic digital transformation environment.

Key responsibilities
- Provide architecture planning, migration, installation, and configuration support for platform, database, middleware, and backup systems to ensure scalable and extensible solutions
- Lead system architecture design and structural planning for technology towers including platform, database, middleware, and backup environments based on system requirements
- Conduct capacity planning by analyzing current and future technology requirements and optimizing resource utilization
- Manage day-to-day operations by troubleshooting issues, performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implementing preventive fixes
- Plan and execute upgrades, migrations, maintenance, backup, installation, and configuration activities for the assigned technology tower
- Design and implement disaster recovery planning and backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity
- Monitor and improve technical performance through performance tuning, efficiency optimization, and reduction of performance bottlenecks
- Develop and maintain SOP documentation, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, test plans, and data architecture guidelines
- Generate weekly status reports covering database and system activities, progress updates, risks, and next steps for stakeholders
- Drive Service Improvement Plan (SIP) initiatives using automation to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
- Ensure SLA adherence, knowledge management, customer satisfaction (CSAT), and identification and mitigation of operational risks
- Manage team operations including resource planning, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate 5–8 years of experience in managing platform, database, middleware, and backup environments within IT infrastructure operations
- Possess mandatory expertise in VMware VDI and related virtualization technologies
- Exhibit strong experience in architecture planning, system design, migration, installation, and configuration management
- Demonstrate proficiency in disaster recovery planning, backup and recovery strategies, and capacity planning
- Show hands-on experience in troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), performance tuning, and operational issue resolution
- Demonstrate knowledge of SLA management, knowledge management, and Service Improvement Plan (SIP) implementation using automation
- Exhibit experience in documentation including SOPs, data architecture guidance, and operational manuals
- Demonstrate ability to manage team operations including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management within IT service delivery environments
