Job description
The Project Surveyor works within the COMP3 Project Subsea Team at Saipem, supporting the Survey Manager in planning, executing, and supervising survey operations. The role ensures accurate positioning, dimensional, and angular data for engineering deliverables, oversees subcontractors, manages documentation, and contributes to risk assessments while maintaining compliance with safety and project standards.

Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Team to define and implement technical survey solutions.
- Establish positional, angular, and dimensional accuracy requirements for engineering deliverables.
- Update Engineering on limitations and capabilities of positioning systems and survey methodologies.
- Participate in tendering processes and contract evaluations for survey services.
- Plan and organize offshore and onshore survey operations in accordance with company and project standards.
- Prepare survey documentation including method statements, operational procedures, and quality control protocols.
- Supervise and manage survey subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project quality, safety, and schedule standards.
- Contribute to risk assessments and ensure survey operations are executed safely and efficiently.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams to integrate survey data into project workflows.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of survey management experience in offshore, marine, or construction industries.
- Proven experience in planning and executing offshore survey operations.
- Strong knowledge of survey instrumentation, geospatial data analysis, and relevant software (AutoCAD, GIS, hydrographic tools).
- Experience with dynamic positioning and offshore navigation systems.
- Leadership, project management, and effective communication skills.
- Familiarity with contract management and supervising subcontractors.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and regulatory compliance for survey operations.
- Certification or membership in a recognized surveying body (e.g., RICS, NSPS, FIG) is advantageous.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
