Job description
The Lead Quality Assurance Engineer – Cloud ERP at Emirates is responsible for designing, developing, and embedding quality engineering practices within Agile teams. This role ensures Cloud ERP products and services are delivered with built-in quality, robust automation, and measurable reliability. Operating within an Agile Release Train, the engineer implements modern quality engineering practices, strengthens end-to-end test coverage across business processes, and enables teams to scale automation through CI pipelines. The role involves coordinating major delivery initiatives across domains and environments to ensure minimal business impact. Responsibilities include translating complex functional and non-functional requirements into business-process-driven test coverage, building and maintaining automated tests for Cloud ERP workflows, liaising across release train teams for cross-team dependency testing, configuring test tools for accurate execution reporting and quality metrics collection, guiding software engineers in writing automated tests, evolving automation frameworks and test harnesses for scalability and maintainability, ensuring quality gate requirements are met, and developing team capabilities through coaching and knowledge sharing.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with project members, technical product owners, architects, and software engineers to understand end-to-end delivery context and translate complex functional and non-functional requirements into robust, business-process-driven test coverage
- Build and maintain end-to-end automated tests that validate Cloud ERP workflows across integrated systems, ensuring coverage of cross-functional dependencies and real business scenarios
- Liaise with other release train teams to plan and manage testing of cross-team dependencies, ensuring alignment of test sequencing, readiness, and release confidence
- Ensure test tools are configured correctly to support accurate execution reporting and the collection of quality metrics for programme and enterprise-wide dashboards
- Support and guide software engineers in writing and maintaining automated functional tests through continuous integration, strengthening shared ownership of quality
- Implement, maintain, and evolve automation frameworks and test harnesses to make end-to-end tests scalable, resilient, and maintainable across environments
- Ensure quality gate requirements are understood, adopted, and consistently met, enabling predictable releases and early defect detection
- Support the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer in coordinating major delivery initiatives across multiple domains and environments, ensuring no customer or business impact
- Develop team capability through coaching, knowledge sharing, and structured support to strengthen understanding of testing practices, technologies, and delivery processes
Experience & skills
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (or relevant professional experience)
- 5+ years of experience in quality engineering roles involving complex, scalable software solutions across digital, data, or enterprise domains
- Proven experience as a quality engineering lead (or equivalent), supporting multiple products and contributing to end-to-end business process scenario mapping
- iSQI Certified Agile Tester (or equivalent agile testing certification)
- Strong experience creating and maintaining scalable test data frameworks to support automation
- 3+ years of hands-on automation experience using one or more tools such as Selenium (WebDriver/Grid), Protractor, Jasmine, Cucumber/Gherkin, JUnit, TestNG (or equivalent)
- Proficiency using Git-based source control and collaboration tools (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket) and integrating automated tests into CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages, preferably Java and JavaScript, with strong coding practices and the ability to define test automation guidelines
- Strong expertise in exploratory and context-driven testing approaches, applying practical heuristics to identify defects early and reduce risk
