Job description
The Director â Business Development role within the International Office of AD Ports Group is responsible for identifying and developing new international business opportunities, implementing strategic business development plans, and building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The International Office acts as the central unit connecting AD Ports Groupâs five business clustersâPorts, Maritime, Logistics, Digital, and ECFZâto support global expansion across Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia, with operations and projects spanning more than 40 countries. The role leads growth opportunity identification, due diligence, and project development to create balanced growth for the organization and the wider economy. Responsibilities include developing comprehensive business development strategies aligned with AD Ports Group objectives, preparing full business cases for investment committee and board review, leading negotiations with clients, partners, and government authorities, conducting market and competitor analysis within the ports and logistics sector, establishing strategic partnerships, and monitoring the effectiveness of business development initiatives. The position also evaluates financial, operational, and regulatory risks associated with international expansion, contributes to corporate strategic planning, represents the organization at industry events, and leads business development teams by setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and ensuring accountability.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with AD Ports Group objectives and international growth plans
- Identify, evaluate, and develop international business opportunities across ports, maritime, logistics, digital, and ECFZ clusters
- Prepare and oversee full business cases and present proposals to internal stakeholders including investment committees and boards
- Lead negotiations with clients, partners, and government authorities to secure favorable commercial and contractual terms
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new markets, clients, partners, and growth opportunities
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships that create synergies and support long-term business growth
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of business development initiatives and recommend improvements
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and external meetings to promote corporate capabilities
- Identify and evaluate financial, operational, and regulatory risks related to international expansion and develop mitigation strategies
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to support strategic decision-making
- Lead and manage business development teams, define KPIs, monitor performance, and ensure accountability
- Contribute to corporate strategic planning through analysis, insights, and business development recommendations
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorâs degree in Business Administration, International Business, Economics, or a related field
- Possess a minimum of 15 years of experience in a similar senior business development role
- Demonstrate proven experience within the ports, maritime, or logistics industry
- Hold a Masterâs degree, professional certification, or diploma in project management, supply chain management, or logistics
- Demonstrate fluency in English
- Demonstrate experience in international market development, negotiations, and strategic partnerships
