Job description
The Technical Solutions Architect (Datacentre) role at du operates within the ICT business unit and is responsible for designing, validating, and presenting end-to-end datacentre infrastructure solutions across pre-sales and delivery lifecycles. The role engages in technical discovery sessions to translate customer requirements into robust Technical Design Specifications and High-Level Designs while ensuring alignment with approved product standards, cost-benefit analyses, and service operability frameworks. The position supports RFI and RFP responses, leads customer-facing technical presentations, collaborates with sales, delivery, transition, service management, and technology teams, and ensures consistency with ITIL-aligned service management practices. The architect plays a key role in guiding implementation teams, validating best practices, maintaining documentation standards, driving vendor knowledge transfer, and ensuring high-quality, scalable, and compliant datacentre solutions across foundational and advanced technology domains.

Key responsibilities
- Attend technical discovery meetings to gather requirements and develop Technical Design Specifications
- Ensure customer requirements are accurately addressed within proposed technical solutions
- Support definition and maintenance of the Approved Product List through cost-benefit analysis and research
- Develop and present pre-sales High-Level Designs and datacentre solution documentation
- Conduct formal technical solution presentations to clients and stakeholder organizations
- Define interdependencies and deployment dependencies across design and implementation phases
- Guide technical implementation teams during project deployment on architecture and technical approach
- Collaborate with Delivery Management, Transition & Transformation, Service Account Management, and Centers of Excellence on solution validation
- Ensure technical designs align with Foundational Technologies, Advanced Technologies, and Service Management & Delivery standards
- Maintain and update documentation frameworks supporting service management and technology governance
- Define and validate technical best practices across the technical engagement lifecycle
- Attend vendor sessions and conduct structured knowledge transfer for technologies and solutions
- Lead preparation and delivery of customer presentations alongside Sales, Marketing, and Technology teams
- Respond to RFIs and RFPs for individual products and end-to-end datacentre solutions
- Maintain awareness of technology process enhancements across sales and delivery functions
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related IT discipline
- ITIL v3 Foundation certification with preference for ITIL Service Design or Service Transition
- 5–7 years of experience in datacentre infrastructure solutions, pre-sales, managed services, or product management
- Strong experience in technical documentation, solution design, and customer presentations
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a dynamic pre-sales and delivery environment
