Job description
AstraZeneca is seeking a Financial Controller Manager for its operations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role ensures robust financial control and compliance, safeguarding company assets and supporting key cash metric strategies. The role oversees financial accounting, liaises with shared services (GFS), drives the month-end close, and ensures compliance with both IFRS and local KSA regulations. Additionally, the role manages audit processes, customer/vendor financial assessments, tax submissions, banking mandates, and reconciliations. The successful candidate will also contribute to process improvements, policy development, and group-level financial planning, acting as a key finance partner across multiple departments in a dynamic multinational setting.

Key responsibilities
- Supervise and support completeness of month-end close activities ensuring integrity of reported numbers.
- Oversee financial accounting activities and ensure timely completion with GFS Middle and Back Office teams.
- Act as main contact for GFS Back Office services (P2P, SOTC, R2R, Master Data).
- Review and approve journal vouchers, guide chart of accounts usage, and perform random trial balance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with latest accounting and technical updates from Group Finance teams.
- Lead internal/external financial audit execution and ensure timely compliance.
- Implement and monitor Financial Controls Framework (FCF) and standardize policies and governance.
- Drive continuous process/system improvements in financial controls and efficiency.
- Work with Collections and Procurement to achieve DSO and DPO targets.
- Assist in resolving AR disputes and support DSO forecasting and planning.
- Conduct financial assessments and due diligence on customers and vendors.
- Manage financial interactions and reconciliations with distributors.
- Oversee tax calendar and review VAT, CIT, WHT submissions with third parties and internal teams.
- Maintain banking relationships and manage mandates, approvals, and authorizations.
- Monitor finance-driven processes and local compliance requirements.
- Ensure accurate post-deal accounting treatments on agreements.
- Lead or participate in local, regional, or global finance projects.
Experience & skills
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
- Minimum 7 years of finance experience; controlling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of IFRS and local Saudi GAAP.
- Experience with KSA regulatory and tax frameworks.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities.
- Experience delivering under strict deadlines.
- Highly organized with multitasking capability.
- Experience working with Shared Services Centers.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or MBA is preferred.
- Background in Big 4 accounting firms is a plus.
- Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.
- Experience in matrix organizations.
- Proficiency in SAP.
- Project management experience.
