Job description
The Head of Logistics at OQ Refineries and Petrol in Muscat, Oman is responsible for leading and overseeing global logistics operations within the OQM – Global Supply Chain division. Reporting directly to the VP of Global Supply Chain, the position manages both inbound and outbound logistics activities, including bagging lines, warehousing, inventory management, transport, and international shipment coordination for polymers exports, with an operational cost exceeding $100 million. The role involves the strategic planning, development, and execution of logistics solutions that align with OQ’s marketing and supply chain strategies, while ensuring cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance with local and international regulations. Key responsibilities include overseeing polymer product warehousing, export documentation verification, coordination of international deliveries, and managing relationships with clients, logistics service providers (LSPs), ports, and regional agencies. The Head of Logistics also supervises a team consisting of inbound and outbound logistics managers and urea sales and operations specialists. Additionally, the role includes planning and managing logistics procurement and contracts, leading business development initiatives, and supporting digital transformation within logistics processes. The position requires managing global coordination among regions to leverage economies of scale, developing KPIs to measure performance, and ensuring continuous improvement through technology-driven process enhancements. The individual also leads the execution of the Urea Sales & Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Oman India Fertilizer Company SAOC (OMIFCO), ensuring synchronization between sales forecasts, inventory levels, and logistics capacity. The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in global logistics operations, procurement, and contract management, possesses strong leadership and strategic thinking capabilities, and has extensive experience managing multimillion-dollar logistics portfolios within the petrochemical or industrial sectors.

- Lead and oversee global logistics operations for polymers export under the VP Global Supply Chain scope
- Plan, develop, and execute inbound logistics operations, including bagging lines, warehousing, and inventory management
- Supervise outbound logistics for international shipments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery while optimizing transportation costs
- Plan and manage global logistics strategies with an annual operating cost of $56 million for designated regions
- Develop and monitor KPIs to evaluate logistics performance and drive process improvement
- Promote logistics digitalization and IT-enabled process enhancements
- Coordinate with global regions to align logistics operations and leverage economies of scale
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, procurement regulations, and export documentation integrity
- Oversee interfaces between logistics, HSE, maintenance, and third-party logistics providers
- Manage and support logistics procurement activities and contracts in coordination with OQM procurement function
- Lead the execution of the Urea Sales & Purchase Agreement (SPA) with OMIFCO, ensuring alignment with sales and operations plans
- Collaborate with sales and production teams to optimize logistics strategies and support S&OP meetings
- Develop and implement logistics solutions to achieve cost efficiency, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development plans for a team of four direct reports
- Maintain strong relationships with global customers, distributors, agents, and logistics partners
- Prepare and communicate delivery schedules, ensuring transparency and proactive issue resolution
- Identify and drive new business development opportunities within logistics operations
- Represent OQ Logistics in external partnerships, government interactions, and stakeholder engagements
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Business (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in logistics or supply chain management, with preference for candidates with similar senior leadership roles
- Proven experience managing regional logistics requirements across multiple geographies
- Knowledge of polymer markets and related logistics modes and regulations
- Experience overseeing inbound and outbound logistics operations including warehousing, transportation, and export processes
- Strong business development, procurement, and contract management skills
- Familiarity with logistics technologies, digitalization, and IT-driven optimization initiatives
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and data-driven analysis
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and leadership abilities
- Ability to manage multiple large-scale initiatives simultaneously in a complex global environment
- Understanding of HSE compliance, trade regulations, and shipping documentation requirements
