Job description
More than USD 1 billion a year flows through the pre-construction portfolio for Amazon's Customer Fulfillment (FC), delivery station (AMZL), sort center (SC) and quick commerce projects across AMET, ranging from 6k to 1MM sqf. Although the posting is titled Sr Regional, Pre-construction, GES, the body describes the role as AMET Head of Pre-Construction, leading the engineering design phases for those sites. Work runs from site selection and site evaluation through budget estimate, concept design, schematic design and detail design to construction readiness, with every launch measured against Plan of Record targets for timeline, quality and cost. Real Estate and Design & Construction teams are your closest partners, and a 3+ year pipeline has to be built to anticipate future capacity needs. On a given day, you might be validating a site, running due diligence, managing design development or negotiating contracts and costs. Health & safety standards and sustainability performance also sit within the remit. Leading and mentoring large cross-functional, multicultural teams is central, as is turning complex technical issues into clear business recommendations for executives. Expect up to 50% travel across the region. Candidates bring 15+ years in construction or pre-construction management, including 10+ years on logistics, warehouse, industrial or critical infrastructure projects, with AutoCAD, BIM, Primavera, PMP, PE, LEED or CCM credentials preferred.

- Drive cross-functional teams to deliver project outcomes independently against Plan of Record targets
- Navigate local regulations and customer requirements with sound analysis
- Own written communications to business partners and stakeholders on pre-construction matters
- Build influential relationships within GES and with stakeholders inside and outside Amazon
- Troubleshoot issues independently and close them with minimal supervision
- Conduct site validations and due diligence assessments during site selection
- Negotiate contracts and costs during design development
- Plan a 3+ year project pipeline to anticipate future capacity needs
- Coach talent within the team to develop future leaders
- Oversee construction during critical project phases, with up to 50% travel across AMET
