Job description
The Aviation Maintenance & Engineering Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all preventive and corrective maintenance activities across aviation fuelling facilities and equipment. The role ensures timely resource availability and adherence to safety and operational standards. Responsibilities include managing engineering upgrades, modifications, and troubleshooting to enhance fuelling operations. The manager will oversee equipment specification development, capital and operational budgeting, and the procurement and evaluation of aviation refuelling vehicles and contractors. Additionally, they are tasked with technical audits, performance monitoring, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with international standards such as IATA and DNATA. This position requires collaboration with senior management, operations, procurement, and international regulatory bodies to sustain efficient, cost-effective, and uninterrupted aviation fuelling services.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Manage resource forecasting and material planning to support timely maintenance execution
- Lead the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance plans for aviation facilities and equipment
- Oversee engineering projects including planning, upgrades, and troubleshooting of aviation fuelling systems
- Develop specifications for mobile and static aviation equipment in compliance with client and regulatory standards
- Participate in design phases for new operational launches to ensure equipment adherence
- Prepare and control budgets for aviation depots and maintenance activities
- Research and evaluate new equipment and technologies for operational improvement
- Supervise and approve contractor work related to aviation equipment and facilities
- Coordinate procurement of refuelling vehicles and ensure accurate technical specifications
- Evaluate tenders for minor works and manage maintenance contracts
- Determine spare parts stock needs and initiate procurement to ensure uninterrupted operations
- Monitor and control budgets, manpower, and operating expenses
- Plan workload and shift schedules for uninterrupted fuelling services
- Investigate technical problems and recommend remedial actions
- Liaise with clients, vendors, and international bodies to stay updated with standards and ensure compliance
Experience & skills
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related qualification
- 12 years of experience in aviation equipment, facilities, and depot maintenance in oil and gas industry preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in managerial roles
- Expertise in maintenance operations, budget management, and compliance with aviation standards
- Experience working with IATA and DNATA standards and coordination with international bodies
