Job description
Baker Hughes is hiring for this Digital Technology Specialist role in Dhahran, embedding data science and AI capability directly inside its Digital Technology organization. The team is leaning further into AI-enabled and agentic ways of working, and this position calls for someone who pairs strong scientific and engineering fundamentals with curiosity and a bias for execution. You'll identify, frame and solve complex business and operational challenges using data science, machine learning, AI, optimization and software engineering techniques. Work spans the full solution lifecycle, from problem framing and experimentation through deployment, operationalization and continuous improvement. Python carries much of the technical weight, alongside TypeScript, Go and/or Rust, AWS, Databricks, Git-based CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with large language models, generative AI, agentic systems and AI application development matters here, as does experience with structured, semi-structured and time-series industrial data. Domain exposure to Oil & Gas, energy, industrial operations or manufacturing is strongly preferred, since translating analytical concepts into scalable, reliable and maintainable production systems depends on understanding operational context. You'll collaborate with domain experts, data engineers and platform teams to keep data quality, reliability, scalability and observability on track, while contributing within Agile teams spread across multiple locations and time zones. A bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Information Systems or another STEM discipline is required, along with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, analytics or software engineering.
