Job description
The Electrical Inspector role supports RMJM’s Dubai Studio by assisting the Electrical Engineer in performing contractual duties on site and attending to contractor Inspection Requests (IRs). The role includes reviewing shop drawings against contract documents, specifications, local codes, statutory requirements, and international best practices. Responsibilities involve reporting non-compliant works, monitoring site quality and safety including health and environmental aspects in accordance with QCS specifications and risk assessments, maintaining daily activity records including progress photos, and preparing surveillance and non-conformance reports. The position requires checking coordination across disciplines, providing technical input to resolve discipline-related issues, conducting snagging and de-snagging inspections, and overseeing testing and commissioning for all MEP equipment and systems. The inspector must verify strict adherence to plans and specifications, process Material Inspection Requests (MIR), inspect electrical and instrumentation materials for quantity and technical compliance, review installations of electrical and instrumentation systems, and ensure safety-critical aspects are addressed. Additional duties include ensuring the use and improvement of project quality control procedures, communicating site progress regularly, assisting with the review of O&M manuals and As Built drawings, and coordinating works for successful project handover. The position requires a Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), at least seven years of electrical construction experience on major Gulf region projects, strong communication skills, proficiency in blueprint interpretation, and full computer literacy including the use of engineering and construction software.

Key responsibilities
- Assist the Electrical Engineer in performing contractual duties on site
- Attend Inspection Requests submitted by the contractor and take timely action
- Review shop drawings against contract drawings, specifications, local codes, statutory requirements and international best practices
- Report any contractor works not in accordance with approved drawings and specifications to stakeholders
- Monitor quality of works and assess on-site safety including health and environmental issues in accordance with QCS specifications and risk assessments
- Maintain daily activity records including progress photos and ensure availability for inspection
- Prepare surveillance reports and non-conformance reports as required
- Check and ensure effective coordination between discipline-related works and other disciplines
- Provide technical input to resolve discipline-related issues arising on site
- Carry out snagging and de-snagging inspections and oversee handover of works to required quality levels
- Inspect and check all testing and commissioning of MEP equipment and systems to satisfy project requirements
- Ensure work performance complies strictly with plans and specifications
- Receive Material Inspection Requests, inspect electrical and instrumentation materials for quantity and technical compliance, and sign off requests
- Inspect installation works of all electrical and instrumentation systems as per approved shop drawings
- Ensure safety-critical project aspects are identified and addressed
- Ensure project quality control procedures are applied and monitored for improvement
- Ensure site progress information is communicated regularly
- Assist the Electrical Engineer with reviewing O&M manuals and As Built drawings
- Coordinate works to achieve successful project handover
Experience & skills
- Hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Possess a minimum of seven years of electrical construction work experience on major projects preferably in the Gulf region
- Demonstrate strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with project teams
- Be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications and be familiar with construction processes related to the assignment
- Be fully computer literate and able to use computer technology for data access, record maintenance, report generation and project-specific engineering and construction software
