Job description
The Shift Manager for AMZL Operations at Q-Express Documents Transport (Amazon Logistics) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a Delivery Station within Amazonās last-mile logistics network. The role provides leadership and supervision to Operations Supervisors, Operations Assistants, and Delivery Service Providers, while also managing external agency relationships and ensuring high-performance execution across the delivery station. It operates in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, ambiguous, and dynamic environment similar to startup operations, requiring adaptability and a strong bias for action. The Shift Manager is responsible for allocating labor resources, assigning job duties, leading operational meetings, and ensuring efficient station management. The role is heavily metrics-driven, requiring continuous monitoring of operational performance, deep-diving into data to identify root causes, and implementing corrective actions to drive process improvements. It ensures that all associates have the necessary tools, systems, and resources to perform their jobs effectively, including coordinating repair or replacement of equipment when needed. The position supports rollout and implementation of new systems and processes, gathering operational feedback to improve efficiency and effectiveness. It also involves ensuring continuous system and hardware functionality to maintain uninterrupted operations. The Shift Manager communicates daily operational metrics, reports exceptions, and ensures alignment with performance standards. The role requires strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to influence both business and technical stakeholders while maintaining customer obsession and quality-focused execution in a high-volume logistics environment.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of an Amazon Logistics Delivery Station ensuring smooth execution of last-mile delivery activities.
- Lead and support Operations Supervisors, Operations Assistants, and Delivery Service Providers in daily station management activities.
- Allocate labor resources, assign job duties, and conduct operational meetings to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Implement process improvement initiatives using lean techniques and performance data analysis.
- Support rollout and implementation of new systems and operational processes while gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of operational tools, coordinating repair or replacement when required.
- Communicate daily operational metrics and report exceptions to relevant stakeholders.
- Utilize software and hardware systems to maintain uninterrupted delivery station operations.
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques to resolve operational challenges without compromising quality or functionality.
Experience & skills
- Experience in performance metrics analysis, process improvement, or lean operational techniques (1+ years preferred).
- Strong experience in operations management, preferably in logistics, manufacturing, military, or engineering environments.
- Ability to manage teams in fast-paced, ambiguous, and dynamic operational settings.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to perform root cause analysis and implement solutions.
- Strong communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with operational software and hardware tools in logistics or supply chain environments.
- Ability to manage labor allocation, scheduling, and shift-based workforce operations.
