Job description
The Product Manager Connections & Data Store role owns Lean’s core platform responsible for connecting the company to banks and open banking partners and for storing, serving, and monitoring financial data at scale. The position sits within the Product team and operates at the intersection of engineering, banks, compliance, and clients to ensure connectivity is reliable, scalable, and trusted. The role is a technical product manager position with no UI ownership and no coding responsibilities, but requires deep systems understanding. The incumbent partners closely with Engineering, QA, Platform Operations, and external bank teams to deliver resilient and high-quality platform capabilities. The role supports Lean’s rapid growth as a multi-product open finance infrastructure company powering payments, data, and lending across MENA, processing billions of dollars in transactions and serving over 350 clients. Responsibilities include managing open banking bank connections across UAE and KSA markets, improving conversion, stability, performance, and monitoring across the connection funnel including redirects, consent creation, data freshness, and latency. The role drives measurable improvements in success rates, time-to-connect, error clarity, and reliability, owns bank relationships, executes stakeholder management with bank technology teams and compliance and legal stakeholders, leads policy coordination with central banks on strategic open banking issues, and ensures alignment across internal squads in a regulated and standards-based ecosystem.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and manage all Open Banking bank connections across UAE and KSA markets
- Improve bank conversion, stability, performance, and monitoring across the connection funnel including redirects, consent creation, data freshness, and latency
- Drive measurable improvements in connection success rate, time-to-connect, error clarity, and platform reliability
- Own and manage bank relationships by executing effective stakeholder management with bank technology teams, compliance and legal stakeholders, and internal squads
- Partner closely with Engineering and QA to deliver high-quality, resilient connection platform capabilities
- Lead coordination and policy efforts internally and externally to align with central banks on critical and strategic open banking issues
- Operate effectively within complex, integration-heavy products involving external dependencies such as banks and regulated partners
- Use data-driven approaches including funnels, metrics, dashboards, and root cause analysis to guide product decisions
- Manage ambiguity, long dependency chains, and distributed ownership across teams and partners
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate proven delivery of complex, integration-heavy products with external dependencies such as banks, payments providers, telecommunications providers, or identity providers
- Possess a strong technical product management foundation with deep understanding of APIs, OAuth2, mutual TLS, webhooks versus polling, retries, rate limits, and idempotency
- Understand and apply concepts related to SLAs, SLOs, error taxonomies, and incident triage in platform environments
- Be data-driven with experience using funnels, metrics, dashboards, and root cause analysis
- Communicate clearly and bring structure to complex and ambiguous problems while aligning teams without direct authority
- Have experience or familiarity with Open Banking data, payments, regulated systems, consent journeys, Strong Customer Authentication, redirect or app-to-app flows, and compliance-driven or standards-based ecosystems
