Job description
GEMS Royal Dubai School is opening a new purpose-built secondary campus as it grows toward Year 13, and this Head of Primary role leads the Foundation Stage and Primary School from FS1 to Year 6 across that expansion. Reporting to the Principal, you'll set strategic direction for the phase, driving standards in teaching and learning, student progress, wellbeing and staff development. Curriculum development and assessment run in line with the National Curriculum for England, PYP expectations and ADEK requirements, so the role sits at the intersection of several frameworks at once. Student progress and attainment get tracked through data and assessment, with that information used to drive improvement and secure strong outcomes for every learner. Primary leaders and teachers receive coaching, mentoring and professional development under this role, alongside oversight of transition and progression from FS1 right through to Secondary. Parents and the wider school community matter here too, and building strong relationships with them sits alongside working closely with the Principal, SLT and Inclusion teams on school improvement priorities. Admissions, placement and class allocation fall within scope as the school continues to grow, and safeguarding along with school policies and regulatory requirements need to stay consistently met. A Bachelor of Education degree, or an initial degree with PGCE, PGDE or equivalent, is required, together with an NPQSL or equivalent leadership qualification. At least six years of leadership experience is expected, ideally gained within an international setting and a reputable British or international school.
