Job description
The Senior Vice President Project & Acquisition Finance oversees initiation, sourcing, preparation, processing, execution, and distribution of Project & Acquisition Finance transactions for private, corporate, institutional, and government clientele within QNB, acting as Transaction Lead for Global Structured Finance mandates assigned by the EVP of Global Structured Finance. The role formulates and implements strategies to deliver volume, revenue, and profit targets; develops and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); manages Project & Acquisition Finance loans, products, and services for profitability; and monitors approved budgets. It builds and maintains relationships with banks, financial institutions, and project sponsors; integrates capital markets; coordinates with structuring teams and Risk Managers; and ensures activities meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The incumbent guarantees transactions are structured, processed, documented, and executed to meet client and bank requirements; safeguards Group interests via policy and regulatory compliance; evaluates creditworthiness and the economic/financial feasibility of transactions; reviews credit, country, and counterparty limits; ensures adequate securities/guarantees and documentation; assigns transaction ratings; prepares recommendations; and analyzes expected cash flows. The role submits periodic MIS to senior leadership, represents the bank at industry venues, interprets customer research for product development, liaises and coordinates within consortia, and issues placement opinions for domestic and international transactions. It champions continuous improvement, leads cross-functional initiatives, and encourages out-of-the-box ideas. Governance responsibilities include adherence to Group Compliance Policies and Procedures (AML & CTF, Sanctions Policy, Data Protection Policy, Fraud Control Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy, Conflict of Interest and Insider Dealing Policy), applying the Three Lines of Defence, Conduct Risk, and Operational Risk frameworks (RCSA, KRI, incident reporting and remediation), and completing mandatory training. The role demands mastery of structured finance, deal structuring, legal and security documentation preparation/negotiation/execution, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, KPI development, budget monitoring, MIS reporting, market/economic analysis, and confidentiality standards using tools such as Excel and PowerPoint while maintaining high professional standards to uphold QNBâs market leadership.

- Develop, monitor, and report KPIs for the Project & Acquisition Finance unit and promote cost consciousness and productivity.
- Originate, structure, and execute Project & Acquisition Finance transactions, ensuring products and services maximize profitability.
- Build and strengthen relationships with banks, financial institutions, and project sponsors to position QNB for future opportunities.
- Coordinate with structuring teams, sales desk, and Risk Managers to determine optimal structure, pricing, and go-to-market strategies.
- Ensure transactions are structured, processed, documented, and executed in compliance with policies, regulations, and approved procedures.
- Evaluate borrower creditworthiness and assess the financial and economic feasibility of transactions, including cash flow analysis and transaction ratings.
- Ensure adherence to credit, country, and counterparty limits and secure adequate securities/guarantees and legal documentation.
- Lead consortium engagement by liaising with participant banks, preparing correspondence, and coordinating contributions, especially when acting as lead arranger.
- Submit periodic MIS and performance updates to executive management and represent the bank at professional and industry organizations.
- Interpret customer research and feedback to inform product development initiatives and cross-sell with other QNB units.
- Implement the âone-point of contactâ approach to resolve client needs and meet SLAs with internal departments.
- Champion continuous improvement, lead cross-functional initiatives, and embed best practices within the unit.
- Ensure compliance with AML & CTF, Sanctions, Data Protection, Fraud Control, Whistle Blowing, Conflict of Interest, and Insider Dealing policies.
- Apply the Three Lines of Defence model and support Operational Risk Management (RCSA, KRI, incident reporting and remediation).
- Maintain data protection and confidentiality, provide timely/accurate information to auditors and compliance, and complete mandatory training.
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff performance, resolve grievances, and identify development opportunities within the team.
Experience & skills
- University degree (Bachelor/Master) with at least 15 years in banking, including 5+ years in Project & Acquisition Finance; regional Gulf and international experience preferred.
- Specialized training in Project & Acquisition Finance with strong knowledge of corporate banking industry practices and regulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in structuring, analyzing, and executing Project & Acquisition Finance deals, including cash flow analysis and transaction ratings.
- Proficiency in preparation, negotiation, review, execution, monitoring, and control of legal and security documentation.
- Advanced financial modeling and analysis skills with proficiency in PC applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong grasp of compliance frameworks: AML & CTF, Sanctions, Data Protection, Fraud Control, Whistle Blowing, Conflict of Interest, Insider Dealing, Conduct Risk.
- Experience applying the Three Lines of Defence and Operational Risk Management frameworks (RCSA, KRI, incident reporting).
- Excellent oral and written English communication (including report writing) and strong stakeholder relationship skills.
- Proven problem-solving, decision-making, planning, organizing, and analytical abilities with team leadership across diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Well-informed about market competitive structures, local/regional/international financial markets, and economic environments relevant to structured finance.
