Job description
Provide strong technical support on Data Management at Upstream Operated Assets – Planning & Performance, acting as expert owner of Data Management standards. Responsibilities include interfacing with specialized vendors to receive, quality check, store, and publish Well, Log, and Reservoir data; interfacing with government to maintain relevant databases; developing AI and machine learning tools to optimize cost and production; and using data science to analyze subsurface and engineering data. This position operates in line with group policies, IT platforms, HSE standards, and national/international best practices.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Execute end-to-end process for the maintenance of all existing Subsurface Databases
- Execute end-to-end process for well and reservoir data in share drives
- Work with Vendors to receive, QC, store and publish the relevant Well, Log and Reservoir data
- Ensure and participate in the development and implementation of the upstream technical data operating model/data frameworks including governance and quality guidelines
- Define and govern data stewardship for upstream technical data to ensure governance compliance and accountability
- Participate in development of upstream technical data strategy, governance initiatives, policies, structures, and procedures
- Promote awareness of general data management principles through sessions and training
- Develop and execute data science projects using machine learning and other techniques
- Work with vendors on new technologies related to data analysis and AI
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering (preferably in subsurface discipline); postgraduate degree is preferable
- 8+ years of experience in information technology and relevant business disciplines
- Experience in Document management applications like Documentum D2
- Experience in WebGIS application
- Experience in handling large data sets
- Experience in handling live data sources
- Experience in handling different data types
- Experience with machine learning, neural networks and AI
- Computer literacy including MS Office
- Experience in Python and/or other coding languages
- Experience in managing large datasets
- SAP experience is a plus
- APEX/SQL experience is a plus
- C++ and Java experience is a major plus
- Experience in mobile app development is a major plus
- Excellent English proficiency; Arabic desirable
