Job description
The Unit Manager β NICU in Dubai is responsible for providing clinical leadership, operational management, and high-quality care for critically ill newborns within a hospital setting. The role encompasses overseeing the daily operations of the NICU, managing patient flow, ensuring compliance with DHA guidelines and hospital policies, implementing evidence-based care pathways, and supporting families throughout the patient journey. The Unit Manager supervises and mentors nursing and clinical staff, conducts performance evaluations, fosters professional development, and serves as a resource for junior staff. The position requires active participation in audits, incident reporting, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Additional responsibilities include financial oversight including Capex management, maintaining confidentiality and professional standards, effective communication with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring safe, high-paced, patient-centered care. The role demands strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment.

- Provide expert clinical care, assess and manage NICU patient needs, and ensure accurate documentation
- Coordinate patient flow, transfers, and family support within the NICU
- Adhere to DHA guidelines, hospital policies, and evidence-based practice standards
- Participate in audits, incident reporting, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior staff to enhance clinical competency and professional growth
- Oversee performance evaluations, fostering accountability, collaboration, and team development
- Implement hospital strategies, uphold organizational values, and ensure cultural and personal respect
- Manage financial aspects including Capex planning and resource allocation
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, families, and stakeholders
- Utilize MS Office tools for documentation, reporting, and communication
- Maintain professional credibility, confidentiality, and discretion in handling sensitive information
- Adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Experience & skills
- Hold a Masterβs Degree or Postgraduate qualification (preferred)
- Possess a minimum of 5 years in a senior NICU role (preferred)
- Have at least 3 years in a nursing leadership position
- Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills
- Be familiar with Kingβs College Hospital (KCH) policies and initiatives
- Maintain resuscitation certification relevant to the specialty and ongoing CPD
- Exhibit commitment to quality patient care, empathy, and adherence to protocols
- Ability to mentor and support junior staff effectively
- Show proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Demonstrate high-level problem-solving skills and ability to manage unexpected issues
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professional credibility across all staff groups
- Be self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable to changing priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment
