Job description
The Manager role in Tax Policy & Controversy within EY involves leading complex client engagements in International Tax & Transaction Services (ITTS), focusing on advising multinational clients on legislative and regulatory tax developments, managing tax disputes, audits, and negotiations with tax authorities, and shaping strategies to navigate evolving global tax environments. The role includes drafting and reviewing technical position papers, policy submissions, and advocacy materials, providing strategic insights on global tax developments including OECD initiatives, Pillar One and Two, and cross-border tax measures, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders, and managing engagement teams to deliver high-quality, timely advice while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. The position requires strong knowledge of domestic and international tax regimes, audit practices, dispute resolution frameworks, and public policy advocacy with experience in litigation support or arbitration, as well as a proven record in client relationship management and complex tax project delivery.

- Manage tax controversy cases, including audits, disputes, and negotiations with tax authorities
- Draft and review technical position papers, policy submissions, and advocacy materials

- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders
- Manage engagement teams, mentor junior staff, and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Taxation, Economics, Accounting, or related field; advanced degree (LLM, master’s in taxation or equivalent) preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in tax policy and controversy, working for a Big 4, law firm, government, or multinational corporation
- Strong understanding of domestic and international tax regimes, audit practices, and dispute resolution frameworks
- Proven track record in managing client relationships and delivering complex tax projects
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong business acumen
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Direct experience engaging with tax authorities and policymakers (Preferred)
- Deep knowledge of OECD tax reform initiatives, cross-border tax policies, and dispute resolution mechanisms (Preferred)
- Experience in public policy advocacy, litigation support, or arbitration (Preferred)
- Established network within the tax, regulatory, or policy community (Preferred)
