Job description
The Corporate Fleet Technical Superintendent at P&O Maritime Logistics, based in Dubai, is responsible for overseeing the technical management, repairs, maintenance, and overall upkeep of the company’s offshore fleet. The role ensures cost-effective and timely completion of dockings, surveys, upgrades, modifications, breakdowns, and major incidents. The superintendent serves as the technical point of contact for vendors, regional offices, and project teams while maintaining compliance with Class Society regulations and internal standards.

Key responsibilities
- Control and manage fleet-wide technical activities, including dockings, special surveys, upgrades, modifications, breakdowns, major accidents/incidents, and projects.
- Support technical procurement, insurance matters, and P&I claims.
- Provide technical support and ensure completion of projects on time and within budget.
- Prepare detailed project/job/docking specifications in collaboration with regional technical personnel.
- Coordinate with central procurement to source cost-effective and compatible spare parts.
- Travel to vessels or sites to provide technical support as needed.
- Manage yard personnel, OEM service engineers, subcontractors, and service providers involved in technical operations.
- Collaborate with regional offices and Country Managers to address technical issues.
- Oversee planning and cost control for dockings, repairs, and upgrades, including budget preparation, tender evaluations, and vendor negotiations.
- Ensure on-board planned preventive maintenance (NS5/AMOS) is effectively implemented and cost-efficient.
- Provide daily project/docking status reports and maintain updates in the NS5 system.
- Participate in periodic review of NS5 system usage and implement improvements.
- Maintain personal technical knowledge and development through training and self-learning.
- Evaluate completed projects for performance improvement and report findings.
Experience & skills
- Marine Engineering Class 1 Motor license (Class 2 considered with experience) or degree in Engineering/Naval Architecture or Master’s in Engineering Sciences/Mechanics/Electromechanical Engineering.
- Sea experience as Chief Engineer on offshore support vessels or at least 5 years in supervisory shore-based roles.
- Minimum 10 years of shore-based experience as Technical/Dry Docking Superintendent.
- Technical expertise in vessel systems, design, and integration.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (CAD).
- Knowledge of major Class Society requirements (ABS, DNV-GL, BV).
- Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (NS5 or AMOS).
- Strong budgeting, cost control, and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with vendors, regional offices, and technical teams.
- HSE awareness and ability to enforce safety standards across the fleet.
