Job description
The Assistant Manager â Special Projects at Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait is responsible for enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of payment operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager of Operations, this role involves streamlining workflows, reducing disputes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high operational productivity in both domestic and international payment functions. The role demands proactive monitoring, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic project management to support upgrades in payment systems and continuous process improvement across the organization.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive training programs for staff covering domestic and international payment protocols including SWIFT, AFAQ, IPS, KNPS, and BUNA.
- Analyze payment trends to enhance productivity and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
- Resolve discrepancies and errors in payments, implement corrections, and provide recommendations for process updates.
- Collaborate with IT, AML, Treasury, Compliance, and Operations to resolve payment workflow issues.
- Engage with external entities such as SWIFT and vendors to ensure operational efficiency and stay informed of industry changes.
- Evaluate payments and operations processes to identify performance gaps and prepare for future upgrades in payment engine technologies.
- Monitor daily payment processing activities to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency, providing real-time support and issue resolution.
- Conduct ad-hoc assessments of current payment systems and recommend improvements to optimize execution models and workflows.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs Degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 yearsâ experience in payment processing, accounting, or related functions.
- Strong understanding of both domestic and international payment systems and processes.
- Familiarity with CBK regulations and SWIFT mandates.
- Updated knowledge of trends and emerging technologies in payment processing.
- Experience in operational problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to deliver accurate and timely reports and insights.
- Proven skills in training, performance evaluation, and strategic implementation of process improvements.
