Job description
The AVP & Lead, Credit Management (Large Corporates) at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) is responsible for managing the credit assessment, risk analysis, and portfolio oversight for large corporate clients within the bankās Group Credit division. Based in Manama, Bahrain, the role involves preparing and reviewing credit applications, conducting detailed due diligence, and providing strategic recommendations to support credit approvals in line with bank policy. The incumbent will work closely with Relationship Managers and business units to ensure the timely renewal of facilities, compliance with credit terms, and proactive management of potential risk exposures. This leadership position requires strong financial acumen, analytical judgment, and the ability to balance commercial objectives with prudent risk management across complex corporate lending portfolios.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and recommend credit proposals and renewals for large corporate clients in compliance with FABās credit policies and regulatory standards
- Conduct thorough financial analysis and due diligence to assess borrower risk, capital structure, and repayment capacity
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers to ensure timely submission of credit applications and annual reviews
- Monitor client accounts to ensure adherence to facility terms, covenants, and approval conditions
- Identify early warning signals and coordinate corrective action plans to mitigate credit risk exposure
- Maintain and monitor portfolio performance, producing regular reports and risk reviews for management oversight
- Ensure credit turnaround times meet defined SLAs and maintain process efficiency across the credit approval workflow
- Review exception reports, portfolio summaries, and client developments to recommend appropriate changes in risk appetite or classification
- Maintain data accuracy in internal systems and reports used by management and regulatory stakeholders
- Participate in client meetings and site visits to validate business performance, collateral adequacy, and compliance with approved credit structures
- Support continuous improvement of credit policies, rating methodologies, and control frameworks to align with best practices and market developments
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline
- Advanced qualifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA are highly desirable
- Minimum 5 years of experience in banking with at least 3 years in credit management or risk-related roles focused on large corporate clients
- Proven expertise in analyzing complex financial statements and structuring credit facilities
- Strong understanding of corporate banking products, lending regulations, and risk frameworks
- Experience handling large-ticket corporate portfolios across diverse sectors
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and business units
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical rigor in financial and risk assessment
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling tools, and internal credit systems
