Job description
A leading organization in the petrochemical and refining sector is hiring a System Engineer to support its Plant Information and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) under the Technical Support Services department. This role ensures system availability, functionality, and compliance while supporting chronic facility issues across the plant. The engineer will design, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide variety of real-time data and process information systems, contributing to engineering documentation, change management, cybersecurity, and user support. The ideal candidate combines IT expertise with plant operations knowledge in a highly regulated, performance-driven environment.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Provide daily technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for Plant Information and MES systems.
- Design and maintain system documentation, assess system modifications, and support integration impact analysis.
- Ensure user requirements and internal policy compliance for all changes and upgrades.
- Develop and enforce security policies and cybersecurity controls for supported systems.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, and condition monitoring documentation.
- Support plant operations through incident analysis and performance improvement recommendations.
- Coach and supervise junior engineers to promote knowledge transfer and maintain technical standards.
- Engage in improvement initiatives, troubleshooting tasks, and engineering documentation enhancements.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Combined experience in IT and Plant Information Systems/MES in petrochemical or oil refining operations.
- Strong technical knowledge in SQL Server, Oracle, OSIsoft PI, OPC, LIMS, LabWare, Windows Server, and ExaQuantum.
- Experience with cybersecurity controls including Firewall, IDS, IPS, and SIEM platforms.
- Familiarity with KPIs, backup and recovery systems, and application whitelisting.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Proven ability to produce detailed technical documentation and reports in English.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Ability to act decisively when confronted with issues, and communicate effectively with technical teams.
