Job description
The Merchandising Lead is responsible for managing and optimizing in-store brand execution across multiple retail outlets, ensuring visibility, compliance, and flawless implementation of merchandising standards. This leadership role involves supervising a team of Merchandisers and Shelf Stackers, driving execution of planograms, promotions, and new product launches to achieve visibility and sales targets. The role combines strategic planning, operational oversight, and field leadership to deliver excellence in-store and strengthen brand performance across key FMCG channels.

Key responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and oversee all merchandising activities across assigned outlets and modern trade partners
- Implement and monitor brand visibility strategies to enhance market share and achieve business goals
- Ensure accurate and timely execution of planograms, product displays, and promotional activations
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to align merchandising activities with campaigns and sales priorities
- Develop and optimize merchandiser journey plans for maximum coverage and efficiency
- Drive MSL (Must Stock List) and distribution compliance to maintain product availability and shelf presence
- Monitor and analyze monthly sales performance, identifying areas for improvement vs. budget and last year’s results
- Conduct regular field visits to ensure merchandising standards and display quality meet company expectations
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of Merchandisers and Shelf Stackers to achieve performance KPIs
- Conduct coaching sessions, team reviews, and capability-building workshops to drive results
- Maintain communication between field teams and head office to ensure clear visibility on performance and challenges
- Support new product launches and ensure consistent execution across retail environments
Experience & skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in merchandising, retail management, or modern trade operations within FMCG/F&B
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, or a related field
- Strong leadership experience managing field or merchandising teams
- Excellent understanding of retail execution, planograms, and in-store marketing principles
- Proven track record of delivering results through operational excellence and team performance
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and optimize field activities accordingly
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and merchandising or sales management tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a hands-on leadership approach
- Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and supply chain teams
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on execution and accountability
