Job description
Within OQ8's Asset Integrity department at the Duqm refinery, the Material & Corrosion section looks to this Senior Engineer as its focal point for RBI methodology and standards, reporting to the Team Leader, Material & Corrosion. The refinery's RBI program runs in full compliance with API RP 580/581, and you lead the studies, validate data and review Probability of Failure (PoF) and Consequence of Failure (CoF) models. Those outputs become risk-ranked inspection plans and evergreening schedules for static equipment and piping, with RBI Evergreening Studies carried out in APM software. Corrosion work spans crude, vacuum, hydro processing, utilities and offsites, using Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs), corrosion loops and damage mechanism reviews under API RP 571. Integrity Operating Windows (IOWs) for temperature, pressure, pH, H2S, chloride levels and flow velocity are set and monitored here, and any exceedance is investigated with Operations and Process teams. During turnarounds, the corrosion and RBI scope comes from you, along with on-site technical leadership for anomaly resolution and repair decisions. Capital projects also draw on your materials and corrosion reviews and Management of Change (MOC) evaluations. Junior engineers will look to you for mentoring, while corrosion KPIs, integrity dashboards and management reports keep leadership informed. A Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Chemical or Mechanical engineering and 8 years of relevant experience are required, along with working knowledge of NACE, ASME, SAP PM and Maximo APM.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead corrosion assessments across refinery process units, including crude, vacuum, hydro processing, utilities and offsites
- Develop and update Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs), corrosion loops and circuits, and materials selection guidelines
- Identify and evaluate damage mechanisms per API RP 571 and recommend mitigation such as inhibitors, coatings, cathodic protection and alloy upgrades
- Oversee corrosion monitoring programs using coupons, probes and non-intrusive techniques
