Job description
The Sr Eng. Production Scheduling at OQ8 (Finance / Commercial & SCM ā Commercial ā Production Planning & Scheduling / Production Scheduling) provides strong engineering support on production scheduling (operation scheduling and production planning & coordination) as the main focal point between Commercial Optimization and the OQ8 refinery/producing asset under TL Production Scheduling. The role schedules day-to-day operations by coordinating material, manpower, and equipment flows to optimize efficiency and meet customer demand; ensures safe operations across the end-to-end Production Scheduling functional units; leads direct communications with asset production units to provide accurate feedback on immediate production targets and on-time fulfillment of customer orders; ensures changes to the Production Schedule are agreed with Commercial Optimization and delivered as expected to optimize output, minimize costs, and maximize efficiency; fully optimizes the monthly production schedule on a weekly/daily basis based on plant/unit availability and flexibility in line with commercial opportunities; and maintains/develops updates on the APS scheduling tool to reflect actual operational capability versus the rolling plan to align production with delivery destination and final markets. Scope covers Operation Scheduling (support/communication; safety and optimization; tool management and development; value capture and project proposals) and Production Planning & Coordination (plan evaluation and communication; schedule creation and communication; monitoring and risk assessment; inventory management and reporting; progress evaluation and change management; detailed scheduling and progress reporting). Working conditions are office-based with intensive computer use and sporadic site visits. Education requires a bachelorās degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain or a relevant field with excellent English. Background includes refining or oil trading experience, SCM experience, scheduling systems and standards across downstream interfaces, delivering complete planning services for large/global production, working knowledge of APS and PIMS, proficiency in Primavera P6 and spreadsheets with database capability, understanding of marketing business regulations, ability to develop branding/value propositions for products, good understanding of polymer, oil and gas/chemicals industries, product portfolio management, short-term market forecasts, and experience in price forecasts/volume availability by grades/logistic costs/legal support for key markets. Soft skills include strong interpersonal, leadership, communication and presentation skills, accurate reporting, planning/organizing, problem solving, results orientation, administrative writing, professionalism/confidentiality/organization, reporting, and travel logistics. Technical skills include MS Office, SCM practices and processes, scheduling and planning tools (APS and PIMS), and scheduling authorization as per internal requirements.

Key responsibilities
- Act as the main liaison between Commercial Optimization and the OQ8 refinery/producing plant for all plant scheduling activities, providing support and advice on operation scheduling and efficient feedback to asset production units.
- Ensure safe operations across the end-to-end plan scheduling process; align all changes to the Production Schedule with Commercial Optimization and deliver as expected; maximize monthly schedule optimization on a weekly/daily basis in line with commercial opportunities.
- Maintain and develop the APS scheduling tool, ensure effective usage and maintenance of inputs, and lead actions required to capture optimization for safe refinery operation.
- Implement controlled deviations from plan to capture value; propose projects that improve plant and logistics flexibility; coach plant scheduling team and young professionals on Supply Chain matters.
- Challenge production plans on availability, capacity and unit rates; recommend a realistic monthly plan for approval to Commercial Optimization; coordinate day-to-day communication with refineries and producing assets.
- Create the operational production schedule (unit load with planned quality and quantity) and communicate schedules and changes to Commercial Optimization and key stakeholders.
- Monitor execution of the operational production schedule; share deviations with the Commercial Optimizer; monitor technical performance, assess capability, and communicate risks.
- Monitor and report hydrocarbon intermediate tank inventories, ensure sufficient ullage and timely drawdown; prepare and update controls for process execution including reporting procedures.
- Evaluate the resource plan and progress measurement system; participate in change management and trends analysis; highlight potential problems and recommend remedial actions.
- Develop and update an internal cost/operations database relevant to scheduling; report monthly on portfolio costs, budgets, and risks; manage claims/disputes as required by process (where applicable to scheduling inputs).
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain or a relevant field; excellent written and spoken English.
- Specialist: 5ā8 years of experience; Senior Specialist: 8+ years of experience.
- Refining or oil trading experience (essential) with working experience in Supply Chain Management.
- Experience with scheduling systems, planning and scheduling standards and procedures involving interfaces across all downstream areas; ability to provide a complete planning service for large, complex, globally reaching production.
- Working knowledge of APS and PIMS model; proficient user of Primavera P6 and spreadsheets with database capability; computer literate with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Clear understanding of marketing business regulations; ability to develop branding and value propositions for products; product portfolio management experience; good understanding of polymer, oil & gas/chemicals industries.
- Ability to develop accurate short-term market forecasts; experience with price forecasts, volume availability by grades, logistics costs, and legal support for key markets.
