Job description

The Senior/Lead Backend Engineer is responsible for building and scaling the core digital infrastructure of a next-generation renewable energy platform at Fuse Energy, a technology-driven startup focused on delivering large-scale renewable energy solutions including solar, wind, and hydrogen projects. The role involves engineering backend systems that support real-time power trading, distributed energy installations, and a decentralized energy network platform that rewards users through Energy Dollars for optimizing energy consumption and contributing to grid stability. The engineer will construct a real-time digital twin of renewable energy generation and customer demand, develop messaging interfaces with third-party providers, and build high-volume data pipelines for processing customer energy consumption data. The position includes developing backend systems for a consumer-facing energy application and ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance of production systems. The role requires expertise in backend engineering, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and system architecture, with exposure to infrastructure as code tools such as AWS CDK. The engineer collaborates closely with product teams to adapt to evolving business requirements, take ownership of projects, and drive technical innovation within the renewable energy and technology domain, supporting critical infrastructure for grid balancing, AI data center scaling, and energy optimization.
