Job description
As a Director of Datacentre Operations, you will be at the forefront of the organizationās technological infrastructure strategy. The role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations and long-term planning of mission-critical data centers. You will ensure optimal uptime, lead infrastructure upgrades, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position is integral to supporting the telecom provider's ambitions to lead digital transformation in the UAE by maintaining high-performing, secure, and scalable data infrastructure. Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies to ensure high availability and reliability of data center infrastructure
- Oversee routine and emergency maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, and long-term capacity planning
- Ensure strict compliance with industry regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and high performance
- Manage and negotiate vendor contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs)
- Develop and monitor KPIs to measure performance, reliability, and efficiency
- Plan and manage operational budgets with a focus on cost control and value optimization
- Ensure continuous risk management practices are applied to operations and planning
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery strategies for all mission-critical infrastructure
- Report directly to executive leadership on operational performance and strategic initiatives
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās or Masterās degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Minimum 12 years of experience in data center operations, including 5 years in a leadership role
- Proven experience managing hyperscale data centers
- Strong technical knowledge of data center infrastructure, including electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience with operational planning, strategic leadership, and project execution in complex environments
- Demonstrated expertise in risk management and compliance with data center regulations
- Track record in budgeting, cost control, and financial planning
- Excellent capabilities in managing third-party vendors and contracts
- Proficiency in leading diverse and cross-functional teams in high-pressure environments
