Job description
The Senior Design Manager - Infrastructure role based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is an on-site position responsible for leading design activities across large-scale mixed-use infrastructure projects including sports, entertainment, arts, and associated infrastructure developments. The role requires managing the full design lifecycle from concept through construction and handover, defining and monitoring design deliverables, ensuring submissions are complete, accurate, and on time, and delivering design outputs aligned with strategic KPIs, programme, and budget requirements. The role also involves implementing and maintaining design management systems in compliance with legal and contractual obligations, leading safety, quality, and sustainability standards, resolving client design issues, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and supporting business development through technical input and design leadership. Candidates are expected to have knowledge of building safety legislation, building standards, construction contracts, professional appointments, and health and safety legislation. Professional membership in RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT, or equivalent is preferred.

Key responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day design activities across assigned infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives
- Coordinate the overall design process from concept through construction and handover, integrating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring design continuity
- Define and monitor design deliverables, ensuring all submissions are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule
- Deliver design outputs that meet strategic KPIs, programme milestones, and budgetary requirements while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Implement and maintain design management systems, ensuring compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements
- Lead and enforce safety, quality, and sustainability standards across all design activities to minimize risk and promote best practices
- Resolve client design issues, provide technical guidance, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle
- Support business development initiatives through technical input, design leadership, and contribution to proposals or project pitches
- Monitor programme progress, identify risks, and ensure alignment of design activities with overall project objectives and contractual commitments
Experience & skills
- Degree in Architecture or Engineering with professional experience in design management for large-scale regional infrastructure projects
- Proven track record in leading design management activities across complex infrastructure developments
- Professional memberships preferred (RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT) or equivalent demonstrable professional development
- Strong knowledge of building safety legislation, building standards, construction contracts, professional appointments, and health and safety legislation
- Demonstrated capability in stakeholder management, technical leadership, and business development support
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across all phases of design and construction
- Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability principles in design management
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage high-profile, complex projects
