Job description
Responsible for executing the Group Compliance Oversight Testing Plan by leading and managing oversight test reviews within the Group Compliance Department, ensuring compliance with AML and regulatory requirements across the organization. The role includes conducting oversight testing of key AML and Regulatory Compliance functions, validating process controls, and maintaining schedules of testing activities. The Compliance Oversight Testing Officer liaises with key stakeholders to validate test results, provides guidance on Group standards and best practices, prepares compliance testing reports, and presents findings to senior management. The role monitors trends in compliance testing, assists in developing and revising annual compliance testing plans, validates business unit test results, and collaborates with Operational Risk and Internal Audit to reduce overlap. Additionally, the officer assists in ad-hoc compliance projects, investigates regulatory or policy breaches, supports risk assessment validation, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of local AML laws in Bahrain, international AML/CFT regulations, industry trends, and emerging issues. The position requires maintaining an understanding of business operations, enhancing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring timely follow-up and escalation of compliance issues to the appropriate management level.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct oversight testing of key AML and Regulatory Compliance functions
- Maintain schedule of testing activities and communication plan with stakeholders
- Liaise with key stakeholders to validate test results
- Ensure formal reporting on all oversight testing is conducted
- Review results and provide guidance to stakeholders on Group standards and best practices
- Follow up on issues in a timely manner and ensure they are tracked and reported at appropriate management levels
- Conduct and maintain trend analysis on results of compliance testing for internal reports
- Provide subject matter expertise to Group MLROs on oversight testing
- Validate business unit test results to ensure testing aligns with Group methodology
- Prepare compliance testing reports and present findings to senior management
- Enhance relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Keep abreast of local AML laws, regulations, and international trends
- Assist in development and revision of annual compliance testing plan
- Review and follow up of business unit testing schedules
- Assist Risk Assessment Team in validating unit risk ratings
- Collaborate with Operational Risk and Internal Audit to reduce overlap in testing
- Maintain understanding of business operations
- Assist with ad-hoc compliance projects
- Lead or assist in investigating compliance issues such as regulatory or policy breaches
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Experience & skills
- 3–4 years experience in financial services with focus on monitoring and testing, operational risk, or internal audit
- Experience overseeing projects across multiple jurisdictions
- Bachelor’s degree (ACAMS, ICA, CIA certifications are a plus)
- AML and Regulatory Compliance experience
- Knowledge of AML/CFT Bahrain laws and regulations
- Knowledge of international AML/CFT laws, regulations, and best practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of AML investigation practices, risk management, and compliance
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
