Job description
The Manager, Collections & Recovery – Mortgages is responsible for directing the restructuring process for Retail, SME, and Mortgage loans across both Conventional and Islamic banking portfolios within a UAE-based financial institution. The role oversees delinquent and current accounts, ensuring inclusion of all retail exposure when managing restructuring cases. It requires close coordination with Legal departments, external law firms, Credit Policy teams, CCRD Business units, and MIT to resolve customer queries and ensure compliance with internal procedures. The position focuses on delinquency management, recovery management, and credit risk management, with responsibilities spanning portfolio management, loan restructuring, and financial restructuring. The job holder must develop and implement strategies to manage delinquency, minimize credit loss, and reduce risk charge provisions within the mortgage book. The role includes maintaining adherence to delegated authorities, credit policy, turnaround time parameters, and audit compliance standards including ARCG and Internal Control reviews. It involves reporting on delinquency trends, market movements, and performing market analysis to support decision-making. The manager is also responsible for coordinating with third-party service providers and offshore vendors, managing operational budgets, and ensuring effective collections management and recovery outcomes. Additional responsibilities include overseeing systems and processes, ensuring computer literacy across operations, and contributing to continuous improvement of lending controls and credit guidelines. The role demands strong expertise in mortgage products, recovery processes, restructuring strategies, and managing both Islamic banking and conventional banking exposures while driving optimal recovery and minimizing financial losses.

Key responsibilities
- Direct the restructuring process for Retail, SME, and Mortgage loans across Conventional and Islamic banking portfolios, ensuring inclusion of all retail exposure in restructuring decisions
- Coordinate with Legal departments, law firms, Credit Policy teams, CCRD Business, and MIT to resolve customer queries and ensure compliance with internal procedures
- Manage delinquency and recovery by developing and implementing strategies, systems, and processes to minimize credit loss and reduce risk charge provisions
- Organize departmental operations by allocating borrowers to Account Officers, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring effective remedial management of delinquent accounts
- Ensure strict adherence to delegated authorities, credit policy, turnaround time parameters, and internal procedures by Account Officers for efficient portfolio management
- Monitor and review delinquent portfolios post-restructuring to maximize recovery, identify trends, and incorporate learnings into future restructuring decisions
- Provide coaching, training, and guidance to Account Officers and Recovery Officers to enhance recovery management and collections management capabilities
- Report on delinquency trends, market movements, and perform market analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Manage relationships with third-party service providers and offshore vendors to support collections and recovery operations
- Ensure audit compliance by achieving satisfactory ratings from ARCG and Internal Control teams and maintaining adherence to audit requirements
- Control departmental expenses within allocated budgets and ensure efficient utilization of resources
- Develop high-risk borrower profiles and provide feedback to Business and WRM stakeholders to improve lending controls and credit guidelines
Experience & skills
- Possess 7 to 10 years of experience in Recovery, Credit, or Marketing departments within a reputed bank
- Demonstrate strong understanding of mortgage loans, SME loans, retail loans, and mortgage market dynamics
- Exhibit expertise in collections management, recovery management, loan restructuring, and delinquency management
- Apply knowledge of credit policy, credit risk management, provisioning, and audit compliance standards
- Show proficiency in coordinating with legal teams, law firms, and internal stakeholders for case resolution
- Utilize computer literacy skills for reporting, systems usage, and operational processes
- Demonstrate ability to manage portfolios, develop recovery strategies, and minimize credit losses and risk exposure
- Exhibit strong work out skills related to recovery processes and restructuring strategies
