Job description
The Financial Controller β GCC will oversee and manage all financial and commercial controlling activities across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets for Julphar. The role is responsible for ensuring financial governance, profitability oversight, distributor commercial compliance, and budgetary control across regional operations. Acting as a strategic finance business partner, the Financial Controller will support sales and commercial decision-making, monitor trade spend and market investments, and ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, commercial acumen, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally while maintaining strict financial controls in a multi-country environment.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee and control all financial and commercial activities across GCC markets, ensuring alignment with corporate policies, regional strategies, and financial governance standards.
- Monitor and manage commercial agreements with distributors, including pricing structures, discounts, rebates, bonuses, credit terms, and payment conditions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with approved contracts.
- Track, review, and approve free goods, product samples, and promotional schemes while assessing their financial impact on margins and overall profitability.
- Review and validate sales deductions, trade promotions, and market support expenditures to ensure they are in line with agreed commercial terms and approved budgets.
- Lead monthly and quarterly reconciliations with GCC distributors covering sales volumes, stock levels, free goods distribution, receivables, and outstanding balances, ensuring accurate financial records.
- Investigate discrepancies and variances between internal financial systems and distributor reports, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Control and monitor operating expenses (OPEX) for GCC markets, ensuring spending remains within approved budgets and identifying cost optimization opportunities.
- Prepare and analyze detailed financial and management reports, including profitability by product, country, and distributor, delivering actionable insights to senior management.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and rolling estimates processes for GCC operations, working closely with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to ensure realistic and data-driven projections.
- Conduct market visits and participate in meetings with key distributors, hospitals, tender authorities, and government entities to support financial evaluation and commercial negotiations.
- Assess tender submissions by reviewing pricing models, expected margins, payment terms, and financial risk exposure to ensure sustainable participation.
- Ensure compliance with local regulatory, tax, and internal audit requirements across GCC countries, coordinating with internal and external auditors as required.
- Act as a strategic finance business partner to regional leadership by providing financial insights, scenario analysis, and decision support to drive profitable growth.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in financial controlling, commercial finance, or regional finance roles, preferably within pharmaceuticals, FMCG, or distribution-driven industries.
- Strong understanding of distributor business models, commercial agreements, trade spend management, and margin control within GCC markets.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and profitability analysis across multiple countries or business units.
- Demonstrated ability to manage reconciliations, resolve financial discrepancies, and ensure accuracy of sales, stock, and receivable data.
- Strong knowledge of GCC regulatory frameworks, tax environments, tender processes, and financial compliance requirements.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering capabilities, with experience collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, multi-market regional environment with willingness to travel across GCC countries.
