Job description
The Team Leader - Fleet Operations in Dubai, UAE is responsible for managing and optimizing a large-scale commercial fleet of over 200 vehicles across all Emirates within GMG, a multinational well-being company operating in retail, distribution, manufacturing, and logistics sectors. The role focuses on maximizing fleet efficiency, minimizing operational costs, and ensuring timely and effective fleet services to internal stakeholders. The Team Leader oversees vehicle scheduling and allocation, preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, and vehicle inspections to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with UAE transport regulations, including licensing, insurance, and registration. The position includes obtaining and managing distribution permits for food, non-food, and pharmaceutical transport in line with local authority requirements. Coordination with internal departments such as Operations, HR, Procurement, and Finance, as well as external partners like workshops, insurers, logistics agents, and government regulators, is critical to maintaining uninterrupted fleet operations. The role also involves monitoring and controlling fleet-related operational expenses, including fuel, tolls, maintenance, insurance, and permits, while optimizing fuel consumption and managing toll systems such as Salik and DARB. Workshop coordination, timely servicing, urgent repairs, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards are key responsibilities, ensuring minimal downtime and effective vehicle turnaround across the logistics department.

Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and optimize the deployment of over 200 commercial vehicles to meet operational, logistical, and distribution requirements across all Emirates
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules, manage breakdown repairs, and ensure regular inspections to maintain vehicle safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance
- Ensure full adherence to UAE transport regulations, including vehicle licensing, insurance, registration, and compliance with road safety standards
- Obtain, renew, and manage all required distribution permits for transporting food, non-food items, and pharmaceuticals in line with local authority requirements
- Liaise with internal departments and external vendors to ensure uninterrupted fleet operations and distribution activities
- Monitor and control all fleet-related operational costs including fuel, tolls, maintenance, permits, insurance, and vehicle registration
- Oversee and manage fuel consumption, monitor fuel efficiency, identify abnormal usage, and implement cost-saving strategies
- Manage toll systems including balance monitoring, top-ups, and monthly usage reporting
- Coordinate with authorized workshops for scheduled servicing and urgent repairs to minimize vehicle downtime
- Organize mandatory vehicle inspections with RTA and other authorities to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Experience & skills
- Proven experience in fleet management and commercial vehicle operations
- Strong knowledge of UAE transport regulations, licensing, insurance, and vehicle registration
- Experience managing distribution permits for food, non-food, and pharmaceutical logistics
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and optimize large fleet deployment across multiple regions
- Competence in fleet expense management including maintenance, fuel, tolls, and insurance
- Strong stakeholder and vendor coordination skills with internal departments and external partners
- Leadership capability to manage and develop a high-performing logistics and fleet team
